5/07 UFC: Recap of Episode 6 of "The Ultimate Fighter 7 - Team Forrest vs. Team Rampage"

By Mallory Mahling May 7, 2008 - 11:20 PM

The score going into Week 6 was Team Forrest 3, Team Rampage 0, and this week's match had already been announced: Jeremy May vs. Matt Brown.

Mouthy May had taunted Brown throughout last week's episode, even squirting lime juice into his chaw. Matt was genuinely pissed by the end of the episode and Forrest observed that one thing you do not do to a Southern man is put lime juice in his tobacco.

This fight was going to be personal.

* * *

Jeremy's teammates seemed to wonder what Jeremy was he was thinking by antagonizing Brown.

Back at the TUF House, Jeremy (Mr. Mindgame) pretended to be boozing it up. It was only water. Or so he said.

It was acknowledged that May had an injured knee and hadn't been training all that hard. (I can see win number 4 coming for Team Forrest.)

One of Brown's teammates predicted that he would win by murder, which led to Brown's voiceover about his troubled past and how MMA had turned his life around.

At the weigh-in, both made weight easily. When posing for their picture that followed, May clowned it up. It was obvious that Brown was not amused.

Even Matt Riddle, one of the youngest of the competitors, commented on May's lack of respect and how much he disliked him.

May admitted that he is a "sandbagging son of a bitch" as he kicked around a soccer ball.

Preliminary Fight Number 4: Matt Brown vs. Jeremy May.

May started throwing right away, but Brown knocked him on his butt soon enough. The fight went to the ground. When they got back to their feet, Brown knocked May out with a head kick to the chin. UFC President Dana White said it was the coolest knock out he'd ever seen on The Ultimate Fighter.

Matt Brown took the fourth win for Team Forrest. After the fight, Brown's frown had turned upside down and he even had kind words for his nemesis, May.

Of his performance, Jeremy said that was not like him at all and that Brown had gotten lucky. (I believe that's called rationalizing.)

Team Forrest discussed the next fight pick. By the toss of a coin, it was decided that Luke Zachrich and Daniel Cramer would be fighting next.

Dana observed with a smile that Cramer is the pretty boy who doesn't look like a fighter, but he'd looked like a fighter in his first fight.

Rampage was baffled by how Forrest picks the fights and was even more baffled to learn that he simply tosses a coin.

Cramer commented on his looks and the fact that he worked at a country club and doesn't have pink hair or tattoos. It was just an explanation and not said in a snooty way. In fact, both of the fighters in this match seemed quite likable.

It was time for this week's second fight.

Preliminary Fight Number 5: Luke Zachrich vs. Daniel Cramer.

Good back and forth action, with each giving as good as he got. The fight ended in the second round with Cramer launching a flurry of punches until the referee stopped the fight.

A jubilant Rampage said this was the best fight he'd seen in a long time. Cramer was happy that everybody in the locker room had been very supportive and he was happy to have made Rampage happy.

Yep, Cramer is a pretty boy, but he proved that he is a fighter, too.

Luke said Dan had fought a tough fight and he gave him props. He said optimistically that it was just one fight and he'd be back.

Team Rampage will have their first fight pick.

Rampage was so happy he was dancing, but apparently that happiness doesn't last long. In the preview for next week, Dana was heard saying his "two class clowns wanted to Ken and Tito each other."
