UFC - The Ultimate Fighter 6: Mallory's Recap of Episode 10

...

Last week Mac Danzig won the first quarter final match. "Good for me," said Matt Hughes, almost as if he'd fought the good fight himself.

His opponent, John Kolosci, had eaten a lot of elbows and was feeling down about the outcome of the match. He'd gone back to the house and cried. Then he started to drink.

After a great deal of booze, John and War Machine decided to throw the fooze ball machine into the pool, along with some chairs. John felt a little sheepish about that and said it was meant as a lesson for the little kids watching, namely his daughter.

Dana said that Hightower and Arroyo decided not to train with Hughes, which was their choice.

Serra said cornering one over the other had torn him up.

Troy learned that Serra would not corner one team member against the other, and he was disappointed that he and Richie would have no one in their corners while their Team Serra opponents would have Hughes in their corners. Needless to say, Troy and Richie were feeling neglected by Serra.

Mac Danzig had been hoping to get to spar with Richie so he could beat the crap out of him a little bit.

When told that Serra didn't plan to corner anybody, Hughes said he found it unprofessional--his favorite word.

Everyone headed to the Red Rock Bowling Lanes for the Coaches' Challenge. The prize would be $10,000 for the winning coach and $1,500 for each member of the team.

Hughes said he couldn't bowl and was pleased to see that Serra was warming up by throwing gutter balls. Hughes tried to persuade Dana to double the winnings. Dana said that if Hughes could throw a strike on the spot, he would double the money. Darned if Hughes didn't throw a strike. Dana felt he'd been worked and felt Hughes knew how to bowl and was "Ken Shamrocking" him.

Matt Arroyo began giving Serra bowling tips--cornering him, if you will--and Serra won the challenge. He enjoyed both the prize money and making Hughes uncomfortable.

Dana observed that Hughes didn't stick around for drinks and pizza and was not a good loser.  Serra noted that when he beats Hughes' ass in December, he'll probably be upset about that, too.

Second Quarter Final Match: Matt Arroyo vs. Troy Mandoloniz

Matt got Troy down on the mat, got side control, and quickly won by arm bar. Matt Arroyo will move on to the semi-finals.

The High and Mighty Hughes pointed out that Serra could have talked Troy through it. (So could Hughes, for that matter.)

Troy understood Serra's position about cornering and he said there was no animosity whatsoever.

Moving on to the second fight, Serra commented on George's work ethic; he was a dangerous guy.

Richie felt he'd been given to George for a easy win.

Serra said Richie was a positive guy and had the potential to shock a lot of people.

Rude would be in Richie's corner. Even in adversity, Richie wanted to shine.

Third Quarter Final Match: George Sotiropolous vs. Richie Hightower

This was not an easy match for George at all. Richie was tenacious, but George won it by kimora in the first round.

Dana said he was impressed by Richie.

Hughes didn't hesitate to point out that George had not looked good at all.

Serra said the two fights had been an emotional roller coaster for him.

Richie was a class act congratulating George and thanking him for a good fight.  Considering how Richie had impressed Dana, we probably haven't seen the last of him.
