UFC - The Ultimate Fighter 6: Mallory's Recap of Episode 11

By Mallory Mahling

...

Last week Matt Arroyo and George Sotiropolous had won their quarter final fights. Ben Saunders and Tommy Speer are the last two to fight in the quarter finals.

At Team Serra's training session, Ben was hard at work on his game plan to beat George. Matt Serra was hoping to have his guy send farm boy Tommy back to the "cows and crops and chickens."

Tommy feared that the cut he suffered in his preliminary fight would keep him out of the quarter final match. There were plenty of volunteers to step in and fill his spot. Fortunately, Tommy learned that he had been cleared to fight. Mac Danzig said Tommy was tough, but he never said he was smart.

Matt Hughes had confidence in Tommy's ability to take Ben out, cut notwithstanding.

Back at the TUF House, the booze was flowing freely. As we've seen previously, when those guys drink, the house usually suffers. Knocking down the walls didn't work, so they decided to drop something in the toilet.

Mac said they reminded him of a bunch of 14-year-olds, then he picked a fight with a drunken Richie Hightower. Mac backed off because he said he didn't want to do anything that would jeopardize his position.

Dorian Price commented on the destruction by the "dumbasses" who'd lost their fights.

Billy Miles was the unlucky person who rigged flushed the toilet, and he tattled to Mac. (America learned what an "upper-decker" was in this episode--putting the Number Two directly into the top of the toilet tank so that there was a surprise in every flush.)

J-Roc was enraged about the prank and Richie was blamed. War Machine said they'd clean it up, although they were gagging as they tried to scoop up the poo with plastic spoons. It was pretty gross.

Mac said he did not find feces to be prank-worthy. "And these are the people representing our sport?" he asked.

Ben woke up sick on fight day, but took something and felt a bit better. Serra was concerned that with sinus problems, Ben would not be able to breathe properly. But when Serra saw Ben smile, he felt much better about Ben's decision to persevere.Fourth Quarter Final Match: Tommy Speer vs. Ben Saunders

The round went to the ground early, and Ben nearly submitted Tommy. Tommy managed to take control and was able pick Ben up and drop him back onto the mat. Ben used his long legs to kick Tommy in the head from the ground, but it was too little, too late in the first round.

The second round saw Tommy in control again, with Ben offering little resistance. Steve Mazzagatti, the referee, stood them up as the second round ticked down.

Tommy was disappointed he hadn't finished Ben.

The referee announced Tommy as the winner by unanimous decision.

Dana White said Tommy was going to be a force on the UFC stage.

Hughes happily announced that it was two to two--two Serra fighters and two Hughes fighters.

Serra was pleased with Ben, who had manned up even though he was sick as a dog. Ben said he didn't want people to think he was making excuses. Ben good-naturedly took the walk of shame.

Dana, Serra and Hughes sat down to pick the semi-final matches, which were:

- Mac Danzig vs. Matt Arroyo

- Tommy Speer vs. George Sotiropolous

But in the tease for next week's episode, someone would not be able to enter the Octagon and someone would get a second chance.

Hmmmm. Be sure to tune in next week.
