Happy Second Birthday Vintage Collection!! Today, we start a retrospect at Cruiserweights.
Episode #104
MATCH#1: The Great Muta vs. Doug Gilbert
DATE OF MATCH: May 7, 1989
Muta’s opening ritual is almost interrupted by Gilbert, but to no avail. Muta has control early, but Gilbert soon sends the Great One out of the ring. Great Muta rakes the eyes, into a snapmare, followed by an elbow. Muta with a handstand elbow in the corner, then applies a nerve hold. Gilbert escapes, and slams Muta’s head to the mat. Muta with another eye rake, then looks for a moonsault, but Gilbert moves. Muta lands on his feet, and sends Gilbert outside with a dropkick. A splash nails everyone out of the ring, then heads back in, and gets the fall with a moonsault.

MATCH#2: TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS
The Islanders (Haku/Tama) w/Bobby Heenan vs. Killer Bees (Jim Brunzell/B.Brian Blair)
DATE OF MATCH: April 18, 1988
Killer Bees with a double team, then it’s Blair with the advantage on Tama. Brunzell gets the tag, and gets a near fall, then works on the arm. The Killer Bees tag in and out, and continue to work on the arm of the Islander Tama. Blair applies an Abdominal Stretch, but Haku breaks it up, and comes into the ring. Haku makes the tag in, and controls Blair, and now it’s the Islanders with the momentum of the matchup.
Brunzell gets the tag, and starts taking over the matchup, taking out both Isalnders, until all four men enter. The Islanders double team Brunzell, as the referee is trying to get Blair out of the ring, and the first fall goes to the Islanders.
COMMERCIAL
We return, with the Islanders in control of the match. Brunzell finally makes the tag to his partner, after Tama misses an attack from the second rope. Blair starts cleaning house, on both of his opponents, and with the help of Brunzell, the Killer Bees make it one fall each.
The fight for the final fall is on, Brunzell with a leg drop, then tags in Blair. Near fall by the Killer Bee, and Jumpin’ Jim works on the arm of Tama. Brunzell misses with a dropkick, allowing the Isalnders to regain control. A suplex gets a near fall for Tama, and then Haku comes in, and gets a near fall with a dropkick. Tama tags back in, and Brunzell tries to fight back, but the tag to Haku is made instead. Brunzell manages to stop the assault with a double clothesline, knocking down he and Haku. Both men make the tag, and Brian Blair takes over. A rollup by the Killer Bee is stopped, as the referee breaks up Brunzell and Tama brawling. This allows Haku to break up the fall, and make one of his won, to give his team the victory.

MATCH#3: Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero
DATE OF MATCH: July 22, 2002
This match is Rey Mysterio’s WWE debut.
Mysterio gets a near fall, and keeps countering Chavoo, as Guerrero is sent to the outside. Another near fall by Rey Rey, as Chavo finally gets some offence in, countering Rey. Guerrero into control, but Rey counters a Pumphandle for a near fall. Rey up top, looking for a cross body, but Chavo counters with a dropkick, and a two count. Guerrero sends Mysterio to the outside, the continues the attack there. Back in the ring, Chavo nails a gutbuster for another near fall, but Mysterio counters, and both men end up on the outside, after a corkscrew by Rey Rey.
Mysterio up top, but Chavo stops him. Guerrero knocked down, and Rey drills him from the top. Dropkick to the face by Rey, but Chavo looks for the Brainbuster, only for Mysterio to counter. Chavo connects with the Gory Bomb, but Rey kicks out! Guerrero in control, but Rey Rey with a drop toe hold, and Chavo is set up for the 619!! One West Coast Pop later and Mysterio wins his debut.

COMMERCIAL
MAIN EVENT: WCW CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Chris Jericho (c) vs. Eddie Guerrero
DATE OF MATCH: September 14, 1997
This match took place at Fall Brawl, in which two rings were used for the event.
Guerrero in charge early, but it doesn’t take long for the champion to take over. Both men reset, and Eddie applies a submission hold. Reset again, and Guerrero with a series of attacks in the corner, Irish whip to the opposite corner, Jericho counters, and gains control with an arm bar. Guerrero finally gets out, and a whip gives us a series of pin attempts, ending with Jericho getting a two count.
COMMERCIAL
We return, and Guerrero escapes an arm bar, but ends up being hung up on the ropes. A Lionsault by Jericho gets him two, so he applies an arm bar once again. Eddie escapes by hanging the champion’s head on the ropes. Guerrero with a dropkick, and he continues the attack by stomping the back of Chris Jericho. Eddie sends Jericho across, and the champion crashes hard, and Guerrero applies a submission move to the back of the champion. The challenger nails a back suplex, and then locks in the Mexican Surfboard. Eddie then, applies a chin lock, as well as the surfboard. Jericho gets to his feet, and escapes. Eddie with a European Uppercut, knocks down Jericho, and a springboard attack from the apron brings a near fall. This leads to our final commercial break.
COMMERCIAL
Guerrero misses with a dropkick, and Jericho controls with chops, and a corner clothesline. Eddie counters, and looks to walk the ropes, but Jericho crotches him, and pulls the ropes up and down to add to the pain. The champion looks for a powerbomb from the apron to the floor, but Eddie gets out, and both men crash on the floor. Back in the ring, and counters by both men, lead to a German suplex for a near fall from Jericho.
The champion looks for the powerbomb again, but Guerrero escapes, and nails him with what looked like the Rock Bottom, however Eddie can’t capitalize, and Jericho nails a powerslam for a near fall. Chris uses Eddie like a lawn dart, and throws him across the ring, and a spinning wheel kick, gets Jericho two. He looks for a roll up, but Eddie counters into a pin attempt of his own. The champion gets in a double powerbomb, then looks for the superplex, but Eddie counters it into what looked like a top rope brain buster, followed by the Frog Splash, and Guerrero win the belt.
