We begin with a recap of ‘the Stars and Stripes’ challenge on the U.S.S. Intrepid, where the likes of Bob Backlund, former Pittsburgh Steeler Peter Tagilanetti, and Macho Man Randy Savage all tried to slam the WWF Champion, Yokozuna. In the end, it was Lex Luger, coming in on a helicopter that managed to slam the big man, and win the challenge.

MATCH#1: TITO SANTANA vs. PAPA SHANGO
DATE OF MATCH: August 29, 1992

We join the action, already in progress. Santana jumps on the back of his opponent, but Shango dropped him into the turnbuckles. Papa gave him a scoop slam and an elbow drop, but missed a splash from the second rope. El Matador gave the future Nation of Domination member from the turnbuckle, followed by a back drop, and hit his flying forearm finisher on Papa for a two count. Santana was stunned that soon-to-be pimp kicked out, and missed a charge at Shango in the corner, which directly led to the Shoulder Breaker and the victory.

YOUR WINNER: PAPA SHANGO

COMMERCIAL: Man or Woman? You decide. Either way, I think I found you a date, Aaron.

Pre-match interviews from the ‘Face To Face’ segment, between Shawn Michaels, Diesel and Mr. Perfect, leading up to our next match.

MATCH#2: WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
SHAWN MICHAELS (c) w/Diesel vs. MR. PERFECT
DATE OF MATCH: August 30, 1993

The match begins at a fast pace, with both men trading hammer locks, before Perfect gains the upper hand, with chops on his opponent in the corner. Michaels fires back with elbows to the head of Hennig, but as HBK bounces out of the ropes, he gets a clothesline for his troubles. The resulting clothesline causes Shawn to do a 360 degree flip right to the canvas. Perfect follows up the attack with an Arm Drag on Michaels off the top rope, then catapulting the Champion over the top rope, and onto the floor. As Hennig heads outside to inflict more punishment, Diesel distracts the Perfect One, allowing HBK to get the Super Kick in on the outside.

COMMERCIAL:

We return to the action, to find Mr. Perfect in an Abdominal Stretch-type hold, locked in by the Heartbreak Kid. Hennig breaks the hold, and ends up back dropping the Champion for a near fall. Shawn attempts a Backslide, but Perfect escapes, and gives him the Perfect Plex. However, the three count doesn’t come, due to Big Daddy Cool on the outside pulling Hennig to the outside. The referee is distracted in the ring, allowing Diesel to send Perfect into the steel steps. The referee begins the ten count, and Mr. Perfect doesn’t make it in the ring by the count of ten, which means HBK wins and retains the gold.

YOUR WINNER AND STILL INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION VIA COUNTOUT: SHAWN MICHAELS

Post match, and the winner celebrates with the bodyguard, until Perfect tries to exact revenge on Diesel. However, it isn’t long until Michaels and Diesel get the upper hand, and as HBK holds Hennig, Big Daddy Cool knocks out the Perfect One with one right hand.

MATCH#3: SIX-MAN TAG TEAM
RICKY ‘the Dragon’ STEAMBOAT, BRITISH BULLDOG and TEXAS TORNADO vs. POWER AND GLORY (Hercules and Paul Roma) and THE WARLORD w/Slick
DATE OF MATCH: August 26, 1991

FUN TRUE FACT: This was the first match on the SummerSlam 1991 card.

The match begins already in progress, and Steamboat gains control, executing several offensive moves on Roma, before he gets the tag to Hercules. Ricky gives a couple of Arm Drags to Kevin Sorbo, until the tag to Von Erich is made. Tornado comes in and works on the arm of his opponent. Hercules tries to counter, but every time Kerry counters back, and bashes his head on the top turnbuckle ten times, then mounts him for ten punches to the head. Hercules finally stops the Tornado with a rake to the eyes (Since when do Tornadoes have eyes?), and he makes the tag to the Warlord. As that happens, Von Erich gets the tag to the Bulldog.

Davey Boy tries to knock the Warlord down, and does it on the third attempt. He then, picks up the #30 entrant in the 1992 Royal Rumble for a suplex, which brings a near fall. Steamboat gets the tag and continues the assault, although that is stopped after he tries to Monkey Flip the Warlord out of the corner, but to no avail. Roma gets the tag and clotheslined the Dragon. As the former Horsemen member gets distracted by the Tornado, Hercules gets in a cheap shot on Ricky. However, the distraction didn’t help Roma, as Steamboat gets in a roll-up. The Dragon ducks the clothesline by Hercules, whilst still in the pinning position, but the Warlord catches him with his clothesline.

COMMERCIAL:

We return to the action, and the tag is made to the Glory half. A double-team move by Power and Glory ensues, and after an exchange of shots by both Paul and Steamboat, Roma gets the tag to Hercules. Steamboat tries to fight back after being whipped off the ropes, but goes a little too hard, as he is hung up on the ropes by Kevin Sorbo. A tag to the Warlord follows.

Warlord lets Steamboat get a few weak shots in, before giving the Dragon a clubbing blow to the back. Warlord slams Rick, and then heads to the second rope for a fist drop, but the move is countered by the Dragon. Steamboat gets the tag, and the Tornado is in, firing shots at all-comers. Warlord manages a Sunset Flip, but Von Erich reaches out and tags Davey Boy. Warlord doesn’t realize the tag was made, and Bulldog jumps off the second rope. Warlord catches him, but receives a Tornado Punch for his troubles, and Smith gets a two count.

Warlord gets a tag to Roma, and Hercules comes in as well. Tornado and Sorbo go at it, meanwhile the Bulldog connects the Powerslam on Roma for a two count. Davey Boy tags in Steamboat, who connects with the Flying Cross Body off the top rope onto Roma for the three.

YOUR WINNERS: RICKY STEAMBOAT, BRITISH BULLDOG and TEXAS TORNADO

Lex Luger’s video entitled ‘I’ll Be Your Hero’ plays, before our Main Event.

FUN TRUE FACT: The video contains the infamous ‘Lex Express’

MAIN EVENT: WWE CHAMPIONSHIP
YOKOZUNA (c) w/Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette vs. LEX LUGER
DATE OF MATCH: August 30, 1993

The footage begins with a stare down between the two opponents, as Fuji tries to sneak attack Luger. Luger predicts it, and goes after him, but that allows Yoko to come. Luger dodges Yoko and begins the attack. Lex can’t knock him down with a back elbow. Yoko tries a slam, but Luger counters and goes for a roll-up, but Yokozuna catches him with an elbow, and Lex goes crashing. The sump from Japan tries a leg drop, but Luger avoids it and gets straight up. Luger tries to kick out Yoko’s leg, then crotches him on the second rope. Lex Flex connects with a Running Leg Drop, and gets a two count. The Narcissist off the ropes, but is slammed by the champ. Yokozuna tries an elbow of his own, but the New American Hero avoids it, and takes Yoko to the corner to pummel him.

Luger whips him across the ring, and clotheslines him in the corner. Lex then with mounted punches, but he moves the ref out of the way, which gives Yoko time to clothesline the Total Package. Yokozuna with chops, then chokes out Lex in the corner. (Why doesn’t Lex just hit Yoko with the Lex Express, whilst the ref’s back is turned?) Yoko distracts the ref, and Fuji sneaks up and tries to throw salt in the eyes of the challenger, but to no avail. Luger gets open right hands in on Yoko, before he tries to slam him, but can’t get him up and Yoko sidekicks him to the mat. A Yokozuna head butt sends Luger to the outside and the ref begins the count. Luger gets to the apron, and another head butt, sends Luger back to the floor.

COMMERCIAL:

Back from commercial, and Yoko has Luger in what I would describe as a neck hold, putting pressure on the shoulder, but Luger escapes with elbows to the midsection. Lex tries the slam again, but the Sumo falls on top of him for a two count. Yokozuna connects with a Leg Drop, and gets another two count. The Champion drags him to the corner and looks for the Banzai Drop, but Luger rolls away at the second, and Yoko crashes.

Both men get to their feet, and it’s Yoko who gets control, introducing Luger’s head to the top turnbuckle. Luger tries to fight back with elbows and right hands, but Yokozuna gets a shot in and regains control of the matchup. The champ gets in some chops, and whips his opponent across the ring, only to miss with the charge, as Luger gets out of the way.

Luger finally slams Yokozuna, emulating his July 4th feat on board the U.S.S. Intrepid, and takes out Fuji on the apron. Luger removes the padding from his forearm, from which he had the metal plate installed, and nails Yokozuna with it, sending the champ to the outside. The ref counts Yokozuna out and Luger wins the match, but not the title.

YOUR WINNER VIA COUNTOUT: LEX LUGER

FUN TRUE FACT: Luger’s metal plate was inserted into his forearm, due to a motorcycle accident he had in the year of 1992.

Post-match, the Steiners, Tatanka and Randy Savage with an American Flag, all come down to celebrate with Luger. Scott and Rick put Lex up on their shoulders, as red, white and blue balloons come down. Luger waves the flag, and Mean Gene wraps the show up.
