COMMERCIAL: A fellow WWI columnist, who shall not be named, let's just say, that he's Scottish, has not heard of the group known as the Doug Anthony All Stars, even though, they were huge in the UK in the late 80s/early 90s. With that said, it's time to show just what he's missing.

A recap of a match from the 1987 Survivor Series in which Andre’s Team (Andre the Giant/One Man Gang/King King Bundy/Butch Reed/Rick Rude) def. Hulk Hogan’s team (WWF Champion Hulk Hogan/Bam Bam Bigelow/Don Muraco/Ken Patera /Paul Orndorff), after Bam Bam Bigelow fought back from being 3 on 1 down, to be eliminated last by Andre.

MATCH#1:
WWF Tag Team Champions Strike Force (Tito Santana/Rick Martel), the Young Stallions (Jim Powers/Paul Roma), the Fabulous Rougeaus(Jacques/Raymond), the Killer Bees(B. Brian Blair/Jim Brunzell and the British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith/Dynamite Kid) vs. the Hart Foundation (Bret Hart/Jim Neidhart), the Islanders (Haku/Tama), the New Dream Team (Greg Valentine/Dino Bravo), the Bolsheviks (Nikolai Volkoff/Boris Zhukov) and Demolition (Ax/Smash) w/Jimmy Hart, Bobby Heenan, Mr. Fuji and Johnny Valiant
DATE OF MATCH: November 26, 1987

If one member of a team was eliminated, then that team would be eliminated.

Quick tags by both teams, until Ax and Jacques are in the ring. Both men try to gain control of the match, until Jacques goes for a Cross Body and misses, allowing for the easy pinfall.

THE FABULOUS ROUGEAUS ARE ELIMINATED

Dynamite comes in and takes down Ax, who makes a tag to Tama. Kid gets the tag to Jim Powers, as we find out that one Tag Team has already been eliminated, the Bolsheviks, so it’s 8 on 8. Powers has control, until Tama counters him, and tags in the Anvil. Neidhart lifts the Young Stallion up on his shoulder, and tags in Haku, for a Top Rope Ax Handle. This brings a nearfall, and Powers gets the tag to his partner, Club WWI’s own, Paul Roma. This leads to nothing however, as Haku, gets the tag to Ax, who counters Roma coming to the corner, then tags in Greg Valentine, as we head to...

COMMERCIAL:

We return, and see Dynamite Kid in control, over Smash. Smash counters an Irish Whip, and Dynamite ends up in the wrong corner and Demolition do a number on him. In the beatdown, Smash sends the referee across the ring, which leads to Demoliton being disqualified, and thus, eliminated from the match.

DEMOLITION ARE ELIMINATED

Bret Hart comes in, and nails Dynamite Kid with a Piledriver, for a near fall. These two have had great matches in the past at Stampede Wrestling, back in the day, and we get a rather small sample of this, as Dynamite avoids the shoulder of the Hitman, who ends up meeting the turnbuckle post, and the Brit gets the tag to Jim Powers. Hart gets a kick in on Powers, allowing him to make a tag to Tama. Jim has early control, until he gets a Flying Chop by the Islander. Tama looks for a Vader Bomb from the corner, but finds no-one, as Powers gets out of the way, and makes the tag to Rick Martel. The future Model connects with a Back Body Drop, then brings Tama out of the corner hard. Martel nails a Dropkick, then locks in the Boston Crab, but Tama is too close to his partners, and he gets the tag to Neidhart, who breaks up the submission hold. Anvil in control until Martel is able to counter, and make the tag to his partner, Tito Santana. Santana nails a flurry of punches, and then comes off the ropes with a Flying Forearm. It brings him a near fall, as the Hitman comes in and breaks it up. This leads into a pinfall by the Anvil on Santana, which strangely brings the three, and the tag champs are out.

STRIKE FORCE ARE ELIMINATED

The Young Stallions comes in to take on Neidhart, and then the footage skips, and we see B. Brian Blair, taking on Haku. The Killer Bee makes the tag to Davey Boy, who is in control over Haku, before he tags in Powers. Jim gets in some offence, before missing with a corner attack. The Islander tags in Neidhart, and between he and the Hitman, they start to gain control of the matchup, until Powers makes a tag to the British Bulldog. Davey Boy gorilla presses Hart for a two count, then continues the punishment on Haku, with a Running Powerslam. Haku kicks out, so the tag to Dynamite is made, and he connects with a Diving Headbutt. However, it takes its toll on both men, and Haku gets to his feet first, and nails a thrust kick, getting the fall.

BRITISH BULLDOGS ARE ELIMINATED

Roma comes in and connects with a couple of dropkicks for near falls, and we head to commercial =, just as Haku connects with a rake to the eyes.

COMMERCIAL:

We return with Haku in full control over the Young Stallion. Anvil gets the tag, and nails a dropkick, but the attempted pinfall is broken, due to Roma’s foot being on the ropes. Neidhart nails a Running Powerslam, but it only brings him two, so he makes a tag to Bret Hart. It looks like the New Dream Team of Valentine and Bravo were eliminated during commercial, so now it’s four on four. Hitman continues the punishment, until Roma rolls underneath Hart’s legs, and makes a tag to Jumpin’ Jim. Brunzell gains the momentum for his side, until they run into each other. Neidhart enters illegally, causing Blair to enter illegally, which meant the referee is distracted by the Killer Bee. This allows an Islander to nail a dropkick on Brunzell, just as he is about to slam Hart. However, has Bret rolls for a pin cover, Jumpin’ Jim rolls through, making a cover for himself, and it brings him three.

HART FOUNDATION ARE ELIMINATED

The footage skips, with Haku in control once again, until he ducks his head and Brunzell geta a kick in, and tags in Powers. Jim, and then his partner, Paul Roma, take control of the match, until an attempted pinfall is broken by Tama. B. Brian Blair heads in the ring, but he is escorted out by the referee, allowing the Islanders to double-team Roma. Haku misses with a corner attack, and the man with his own Club WWI show, tags in Blair, whom is immediately caught by the Islander. Tama gets the tag, and he continues to keep control for his team, until he misses with an elbow drop. Brunzell gets the tag, and he takes out both Islanders. A dropkick brings a near fall, as the pin attempt is broken up by Haku. This brings in the Young Stallions to take him out, as Brunzell goes for a sunset flip on Tama. B. Brian Blair has a mask on, and he leaps from the apron, and hits the Sunset Flip on the Islander for the three count.

ISLANDERS ARE ELIMINATED

SURVIVORS: Killer Bees and Young Stallions

COMMERCIAL:

Interviews with both teams are shown before our Main Event.

MAIN EVENT:
Co-Captains: The MegaPowers (WWF Champion Randy Savage/Hulk Hogan) w/Miss Elizabeth, Hercules, Hillbilly Jim and Koko B. Ware w/Frankie vs. Co-Captains: Big Boss Man and Akeem w/Slick, Ted DiBiase w/Virgil, King Haku w/Bobby Heenan and the Red Rooster
DATE OF MATCH: November 24, 1988

FUN FACT: This match is from the second ever Survivor Series. I also have this match on VHS. Yeah, I know, VHS. That makes me feel old.

The action begins, with Akeem in control over Hillbilly Jim. Rooster gets the tag, and he tries to slam his opponent. That doesn’t work, and Jim slams the Rooster instead. A kick to the mid-section later, and Koko B. Ware has the tag. Koko nails a Powerslam, which brings a near fall, and the Birdman continues with the assault, nailing a dropkick from the top for a two count. Hogan gets the tag, and the Rooster has no chance. Big Boot by Hulk, the tag to Savage, and one Macho Man elbow later, we have elimination.

RED ROOSTER IS ELIMINATED

This causes both teams to enter the ring, with the good guys winning out. The footage skips, with King Haku and the Hulkster as the legal men. Hogan connects with a corner clothesline, and a slam, before tagging in Hercules. He connects with a running elbow drop, and goes for the cover, but Haku kicks out at two. Kevin Sorbo with a headlock, but it’s countered into a Back Drop, and the King gets the tag to Akeem.

Akeem nails a slam, but misses with the elbow, and Hercules makes the tag to HillBilly Jim. Jim tries to get the big guy off his feet, but only succeeds in being driven into the corner. This is followed by a splash, and the sides are even.

HILLBILLY JIM IS ELIMINATED

COMMERCIAL:

We return to find Koko with a flurry of attacks on Akeem, before he tags in the Hulkster. Hogan in control, before he tags in the WWF Champion. Savage tries to get him off his feet, but he can’t, so the tag to Hercules is made. He keeps the attack going, before he tags in the Birdman. Koko sends Akeem to the corner with a dropkick, but misses with a splash, and the African Dream regains control for his team, tagging in the Bossman. The Birdman doesn’t survive long, as the Sidewalk Slam ends his night.

KOKO B. WARE IS ELIMINATED

The footage skips again, with Haku and Hulk in the ring. The King tags in the Bossman, and Hogan is in trouble. Bossman in total control, and he makes the tag to DiBiase. The Million Dollar man has all the momentum, until a pin attempt only gets him two, and that pin attempt seems to have awoken the Hulkster, who starts Hulking Up, and turns the momentum in his favour. Hulk tags in Hercules, whom is currently feuding with DiBiase, and he is in full control. Hercules massacres Teddy Sr. Until Virgil trips him up. Hercules confronts Virgil, allowing DiBiase to sneak up from behind, and roll up Hercules for the three.

HERCULES IS ELIMINATED

It’s four on two, but not for long, as DiBiase is too busy sending Hercules off, he doesn’t see the Macho Man come up from behind to roll him up for the three.

TED DIBIASE IS ELIMINATED

COMMERCIAL:

We return to find the Bossman heading to the top rope, missing with a Splash on the Hulk. Hogan tags in Savage, who comes in with a flurry, taking on all comers. His momentum is short-lived, as he is hit from behind by Slick. Bossman locks the Macho Man in a Bearhug, as Slick grabs Elizabeth, and starts to take her away. Hogan nails Slick, but Akeem comes from behind and nails the Hulkster. Bossman rolls out, and between he and Akeem, they handcuff Hogan to the ring rope, rendering him helpless. Bossman gets counted out, and he takes his frustration out on the Hulkster, attacking him with the nightstick.

BIG BOSSMAN IS ELIMINATED

Meanwhile, in the ring, Randy Savage is slowly gaining control over Haku and Akeem, until the Bossman nails the Macho man from behind with the nightstick. Big Bossman enters the ring, and chokes out the Champion, whilst Akeem nails him with a Splash. The referee disqualifies Akeem.

AKEEM IS ELIMINATED

Akeem and Bossman head to the back, as we enter our final commercial of the show.

COMMERCIAL:

We return and see Slick waving the keys to the handcuffs in front of Hogan, as Savage avoids a Dropkick by Haku. Macho Man looks for the tag, but Hulk isn’t there, and Haku attacks the Champion. The referee is distracted by Elizabeth on the outside, whilst Slick holds Hogan, so that Haku can get a free hit. However, Haku hits Slick, and as Heenan goes to check on him, he is nailed by the Hulkster. Elizabeth grabs the keys out of Slick’s pocket, and unlocks the handcuffs. Meanwhile in the ring, Haku is in control, nailing a splash from the top rope, but Savage is able to kick out at two. Haku nails the Champ with a kick, but the result sends the Macho Man into his corner, and Hogan gets the tag. Haku doesn’t last long, as the Big Boot and the Leg Drop finishes him off.

KING HAKU IS ELIMINATED

SURVIVORS: The MegaPowers: WWF Champion Randy Savage, and Hulk Hogan

Post-match, as Elizabeth is celebrating with both men, Savage gets a look of jealously, as she is celebrating with Hogan.
