Chris Cooley Presents The WWE Vintage Collection: Eps 79-81: Yokozuna vs. Mr. Perfect, Ultimate Warrior vs. Harley Race, Honky Tonk and The Harts vs. Savage and Strike Force, Jarrett vs. Michaels, Sid vs. Nash, and More

By Chris Cooley Dec 31, 2009 - 9:20 AM

The following commercials are deemed by the writer of the upcoming Vintage Collection, and by World Wrestling Insanity management, as being unsafe for your workplace. That doesn't mean, that can't watch them at your workplace. Who does things safely these days anyways?

Welcome to the final Vintage Collection of 2009. In this special edition, I will be bringing you several editions of the show, plus the music you need, in order to get your New Year’s party really going. Here’s one to get you started.

Episode #79

MATCH#1: Sid Justice w/Harvey Wippleman vs. Undertaker w/Paul Bearer
DATE OF MATCH: April 19, 1992

Taker sent Sid outside, and stopped Sid from trying to leave over the barricade, so he met the turnbuckle post, and couldn’t get in the ring in time.

Your Winner: Sid Justice via Count Out

Although, he did give Justice a Tombstone afterwards, Undertaker lost the match, when he really should’ve won.

COMMERCIAL: Another tune to keep the party swinging.

MATCH#2: ‘The Model’ Rick Martel vs. ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage
DATE OF MATCH: January 12, 1994

Savage comes into this match with a blackened eye, due to a parking lot attack by Crush, but not even that, can stop the Macho Man elbow, and a victory.

Your Winner: Randy Savage

MATCH#3: Shawn Michaels/Diesel vs. Marty Jannetty/Razor Ramon
DATE OF MATCH: July 27, 1993

This has got to be the only times I have seen Marty nail Diesel with anything that has a real effect. A dropkick by Jannetty nailed Big Daddy Cool, allowing Razor to pin the HeartBreak Kid.

Your Winners: Razor Ramon/Marty Jannetty

MAIN EVENT: WWF CHAMPIONSHIP
Yokozuna (c) w/Mr. Fuji vs. Mr. Perfect
DATE OF MATCH: October 19, 1993

Perfect put up a good showing here, but in the end, it was Fuji on the outside, causing the distraction, and allowing the champ to retain.

Your Winner: Yokozuna

This was Hennig’s last appearance in the F, until WrestleMania X, where he served as a Guest Referee for the Yokozuna/Lex Luger WWF Title match.

One episode down, but this New Year’s special isn’t over yet, tune in after the break for Episode #80. So get your beers, chips, and overly drunk women, and bring them here, for more Vintage Collection.

Episode #80

MATCH#1: Ultimate Warrior vs. ‘King’ Harley Race
DATE OF MATCH: March 5, 1988

In my opinion, Harley never lived up to his NWA career, and becoming King didn’t really suit him. Also, I don’t remember seeing a match where Warrior lost. I know he lost in his career, but I have not seen a match where he has done so.

Your Winner: Ultimate Warrior

MATCH#2: Ricky ‘the Dragon’ Steamboat vs. ‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton
DATE OF MATCH: July 20, 1985

Two Hall of Famers put on a good match, although it had a bizarre finish. Orton got DQ’ed for I’m not quite sure, but Steamboat with the win, and was the victor in the post-match confrontation as well.

Your Winner: Ricky Steamboat via DQ

COMMERCIAL: To be honest, I wanted Dire Straits and ‘Money For Nothing’ here, not only because it’s a good song to bring in New Year’s, but also, it was the first music video to be played on MTV UK. However, due to reasons beyond my control, I was unable to. However, here is the next best thing.

MATCH#3: WWF WOMENS CHAMPIONSHIP
Fabulous Moolah (c) vs. Sherri Martel
DATE OF MATCH: July 24, 1988

A good match between the two here. This is back when Women’s Wrestling really got momentum. The Sensational One scores the upset here.

Your Winner and new WWF Women’s Champion: Sherri Martel

MAIN EVENT: WWF Intercontinental Champion Honky Tonk Man w/Jimmy Hart and Hart Foundation (Bret Hart/Jim Neidhart) vs. WWF Tag Team Champions Strike Force (Tito Santana/Rick Martel) and ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage w/Miss Elizabeth
DATE OF MATCH: March 5, 1988

Your Winners: Randy Savage and Strike Force

We’re not done yet, two down, one to go. This New Year’s party is still going strong. Here’s a song to keep the house rocking. But remember to join us afterwards, as we revisit In Your House! On Your Computer!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3T_xeoGES8

Episode #81: In Your House #2 revisited

MATCH#1: The Roadie vs. 1-2-3 Kid
DATE OF MATCH: July 23, 1995

Who would of thought at this moment, that in three short years, these two would be partners.

Your Winner: The Roadie

COMMERCIAL:

MATCH#2: WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
‘Double J’ Jeff Jarrett (c) w/the Roadie vs. Shawn Michaels
DATE OF MATCH: July 23, 1995

Good match I thought. Shawn becoming the champ once again was huge with the crowd, and the result helped lead to the split between Jarrett and the Roadie.

Your Winner and new Champion: Shawn Michaels

After this match is shown, proof is shown that it was the Roadie, and not Double J, who sang his hit song ‘With My Baby Tonight’, at the In Your House II Pay-Per-View. Jarrett just was like a Backstreet Boy. Lip Syncing.

MAIN EVENT: WWF CHAMPIONSHIP
LUMBERJACK MATCH
Diesel (c) vs. Sycho Sid
DATE OF MATCH: July 23, 1995

Not even the might of Sid could stop Diesel. Think about this, wasn’t Sid, Diesel’s replacement as Shawn Michaels’ bodyguard?

Your Winner: Diesel

This may not be the best way to end a New Year’s party, but it’s how I’m ending this one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6HlvohFb9E

That’s it for 2009, and the Vintage Collection. I’m off to celebrate in style. See you in 2010.
