Welcome to a double edition of the Vintage Collection, and for the first time in the history of the show, they have repeated matches from a previous episode. Some of the matches from Episode 98, can also be seen on Episode 7, but a memory refresher is in order. Episode 99, shows matches from the last 80s, to early 90s.

Episode #98

MATCH#1: Dynamite Kid w/Matilda vs. Jim ‘the Anvil’ Neidhart
DATE OF MATCH: October 20, 1986

Neidhart begins to take over the matchup, until he misses with a second rope headbutt. Dynamite nails him with a dropkick from the turnbuckle, followed by a clothesline. Anvil ends up tied up on the ropes, but avoids an attack by the Kid. Jim thinks his opponent is outside the ring, but Dynamite stayed in, and managed to get a roll up for the three.

YOUR WINNER: Dynamite Kid

MATCH#2: Nikolai Volkoff vs. Haku
DATE OF MATCH: October 20, 1986

Neither man can take control on the match, until Haku’s head is rammed against the turnbuckle, and this seems to trigger the Islander into life. Volkoff stops this however, with a shot to the face with a foreign object, that he pulled from his tights. Nikolai tries for a pin, even grabbing the tights, but Haku kicks out. The Russian counters an irish whip from his opponent, but he misses with a clothesline, and Haku gets the three, after it looks like Volkoff’s shoulders may have been up.

YOUR WINNER: Haku

MATCH#3: Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart vs. Raymond Rougeau
DATE OF MATCH: October 20, 1986

Hart gets his sunglasses broken by Raymond at the beginning of the match, but it ends up back-firing in the end, even though he controlled the match towards the end, as Hart got the pinfall victory, with the help of his feet on the ropes.

YOUR WINNER: Bret Hart

MATCH#4: Greg ‘the Hammer’ Valentine vs. Davey Boy Smith
DATE OF MATCH: October20, 1986

A good back and forth match between the two here ended after the momentum gained from Bulldog with a dropkick, was not taken advantage of by Davey boy, and Valentine countered into a pinfall, also using the ropes for leverage.

YOUR WINNER: Greg Valentine

Episode #99

MATCH#1: ‘American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes vs. Big Bossman w/Slick
DATE OF MATCH: August 9, 1989

Rhodes came out with the Bossman’s hat and nightstick. I always thought that stealing from a police officer was a criminal offence? If that’s the case, why isn’t Dusty Rhodes in jail?

The Dream wins by DQ, but the beat down doesn’t end there, with Slick and Bossman handcuff Dusty to the Slickster, but Rhodes fights them off, and steals the hat and nightstick again, and takes Slick away, still handcuffed to him. Somebody throw that polka dot wearing some of a plumber in a cell. I just observed theft and kidnapping all in the space of a minute.

YOUR WINNER VIA DQ: Dusty Rhodes

MATCH#2: Hart Foundation (Bret Hart/Jim Neidhart) vs. Rockers (Shawn Michaels/Marty Jannetty)
DATE OF MATCH: August 29, 1989

The Rockers gain total control of the matchup, after the Hart Foundation work over Michaels for the majority. Bret Hart is sent to the outside, and as the Anvil is checking on his partner on the outside, the Rougeau Brothers hit the ring, and attack the Rockers. Suddenly, the four men in the match work together, and chase Jacques and Raymond out of the ring, and into the backstage area.

YOUR WINNER: No Contest

MATCH#3: Intercontinental Champion Mr. Perfect vs. WWF Champion Ultimate Warrior
DATE OF MATCH: May 15, 1990

Perfect became champion, after Warrior relinquished the belt, after defeating Hulk Hogan for the WWF Championship at WrestleMania V.

It doesn’t matter what The Perfect One throws at Warrior, the WWF Champion no sold found a way to come back from sheer defeat. After the Perfect Plex was connected, Warrior kicked out at 2, and proceeded to take out Hennig, and hit the Warrior Splash to get the three.

YOUR WINNER: Ultimate Warrior

MATCH#4: Rick ‘The Model’ Martel vs. Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake
DATE OF MATCH: December 28, 1989

Martel in control, until he heads to the top, and gets tripped up by the Barber. Brutus sends the Model to the outside, to continue the attack, but when he sends him back in, and tries for a Sunset Flip, Martel is able to block the move, and get a pinfall of his own by using the ropes. Beefcake is not happy as the result, and applies a sleeper to Rick. Brutus grabs the clippers, just as Bobby Heenan comes down and wakes the Model just in time.

Is it just me, or with ‘the Barber’ gimmick, would Brutus Beefcake be perfect for the Straight Edge Society? I mean, sure he’d have to give up drugs and alcohol. Now I mention that, forget I said anything.

YOUR WINNER: Rick Martel

MAIN EVENT: ‘Macho King’ Randy Savage w/Sensational Queen Sherri vs. ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper
DATE OF MATCH: January 22, 1990

A good, back and forth match between the two. Aeroplane spins by Piper and Savage, Roddy blocking the elbow, and Sherri getting involved, made for an exciting finish, in which HotRod was able to get his opponent counted out, and get the victory.

YOUR WINNER: Roddy Piper

According to my calculations, the next edition is the 100th. Make sure you tune in to the milestone episode.
