7/5/10: We immediately head to the ring for our first contest.
ROH Tag Team champions Kings of Wrestling w/Shane Hagadorn & Sara Del Rey vs. Dark City Fight Club
The champs shake each other’s hands when Kory Chavis and Jon Davis decide against following the Code of Honor. Hero doesn’t do the smartest thing by pushing Chavis, leading to Chavis just grounding and pounding him until Hero tagged out. Davis tagged in to confront the jacked Castagnoli. When Claudio couldn’t power Davis around, they exchanged shoulder blocks. Claudio bounced off the ropes, catching a leaping Davis before executing a backbreaker. Claudio scaled the ropes for something big. Davis caught Claudio in his arms, power slamming the big man. Chavis became the legal man, as did Hero. Chavis felt one of Hero’s chops, paying him back with one of his own. Backbreaker into Chavis’ leg drop by the DCFC had Hero on his back for two seconds. Claudio tagged himself, but didn’t do too well with Chavis. Sara distracted the referee so Hero could help Claudio from taking the Hart Attack leg drop. Davis let go of Castagnoli, allowing the Kings to set up for that double bicycle kick. Davis avoided it, knocking Claudio to the floor before giving chase. Sara got pulled in the line of Davis’ fire. Thankfully for Sara, Jon stopped before colliding with her. That moment of hesitation allowed Hero to slide through the ropes, dropkicking Davis into the barricades.
When the action returned to the ring, the Kings cut the ring off, forcing Davis in their corner so they could make quick tags and execute even quicker attacks. Claudio and Hero wanted to use a double team off of Hero’s running elbow in the corner. Davis reversed Hero’s whip, sending Hero face first into Castagnoli’s boot. Before Castagnoli could register what happened, Davis clotheslined him.
Chavis was able to tag in as Claudio got up. Big back body drop had Claudio writhing. Hero connected with an insulting slap before hitting the ropes. Hero ran into Chavis’ sky-high bomb, sending Chris to the floor. Claudio was able to stop Chavis’ follow up pin off a swinging sidewalk slam by putting his boot on the bottom rope. Davis couldn’t believe it when Claudio kicked out of the pin off a Hart Attack leg drop. Hero used a blind tag off an Irish whip, entering the ring as Claudio slid out. When Davis realized what happened, his face met Hero’s right boot. Chavis saved his partner from being pinned. Davis got to his feet, pouncing Claudio out of the ring when he entered to attack Chavis. Davis turned around, right into the Rolling Elbow. The Deathblow by Hero shockingly didn’t end this one. A seething Sara distracted the referee so Hagadorn could throw Hero the “loaded” elbow pad. Before Hero could use it, The Briscoes hit the ring, ending this contest.
The Briscoes were going wild as security and wrestlers alike tried to pull this brawl apart. When the champs fled the scene, Jay started Razor’s Edging people and Jay Drilling little security kids.
Last week, Tyler Black and El Generico had an incredible back and forth battle that was ruined by interference from Kevin Steen.
Kyle Durden was here to get some words with Tyler Black, but Prince Nana ended that chance by making the monkeys in the truck play the video of Necro Butcher becoming the new crown jewel of The Embassy. After the video, we see a joyous Nana dancing due to Necro taking the spot that Nana wanted to give Skullkrusher Rasche Brown.
Tonight, The American Wolves take on Roderick Strong and Christopher Daniels.
Daizee Haze vs. Jamilia Craft
Craft is an ROH Wrestling Academy graduate who happens to wear a mask. Both women have unique attire to say the least. Haze is able to easily outwrestle the rookie. Craft was able to get out of a head scissors, headlocking Haze with great effectiveness. Haze didn’t break clean when they tumbled into the ropes by shoulder ramming Craft. A running dropkick knocked the wind out of Craft, allowing Haze to go after Craft’s left arm. Craft felt all the pressure of Haze forcing Craft’s arms in weird positions. Craft reversed a hammerlock slam, reverse DDT’ing Haze. Craft started firing off right hands, stunning Haze long enough to clothesline Haze. Craft took too much time arguing with the ref due to a near fall, allowing Haze to grab her. Heart Punch/tiger suplex combination puts Craft’s shoulders to the mat for the three count.
Delirious made his HDNet in-ring return two weeks ago, teaming up with Jerry Lynn to take on two of the men who helped injure him and Jerry Lynn, Rhett Titus and Kenny King. Unfortunately for Delirious, it wasn’t a successful night. Next week, it’ll be ROH World champion Tyler Black teaming up with Jerry Lynn and Delirious vs. Austin Aries, Kenny King, and Rhett Titus.
Kyle Durden was with Christopher Daniels to talk about Davey Richards claiming he’s the best in the world. Daniels feels Davey is putting stumbling block after stumbling block to avoid facing Daniels one on one-including their match tonight where Davey allowed Daniels to pick his own partner. According to Daniels, who better to pick than Davey’s old running buddy, Roderick Strong. But when it comes down to it, it’s about Daniels and Davey, and who really is the best in the world.
Shawn Daivari cuts a promo talking about how ROH management is full of shortcomings and double-handed trickery. By aligning with The Embassy, Daivari plans on becoming unstoppable.
The American Wolves w/Shane Hagadorn vs. Christopher Daniels & Roderick Strong
Not much respect shown between the two teams. Daniels starts off for his team, hoping Davey would do the same. And…Daniels doesn’t get his wish. Daniels and Edwards try their best to wrestle for an advantage, but end up in a stalemate. Daniels forced Eddie into his corner, tagging in Roderick. Strong stomped a mudhole into Eddie before knocking Davey off the apron. Eddie and Strong started trading arm drags. When both saw the arm drags weren’t working, they threw chops…that didn’t connect. Eddie and Roderick went for a big boot in hopes of dropping the other, but found themselves getting hit as well. Davey tagged in, causing Daniels to tag himself in. Davey was feeling this moment as they circled around the ring. Davey had to flip and cartwheel his way out of an arm bar. Daniels did the same when he found him in the predicament. Daniels tried to turn Davey’s counter into a cradle, but Davey stopped that with his own pinning predicament. They exchanged pinning combinations until Davey was pulled to the mat in a backslide. Richards avoided the pin fall, throwing a stiff kick to Daniels’ chest when he got to his feet. Daniels took the attack, shoulder blocking Davey. Eddie used his own body to distract Daniels when he hit the ropes so Davey could clobber Daniels from behind.
Eddie took his partner’s place in the ring, grounding Daniels. When Davey returned, he focused on Daniels’ leg. Davey rolled through with a modified Indian deathlock until Daniels clawed to the ropes. Daniels was able to tag out when Eddie rushed into Daniels’ boot after whipping “The Fallen Angel” into the turnbuckles. Strong entered, going chop crazy. After knocking Davey off the apron, Strong exploded with a boot to Eddie’s face. Daniels and Strong saw Eddie clutching his abdomen, so they started throwing kicks and chops at that area of Eddie’s body. After a suplex and a couple of shoulder rams, Strong tagged out so Daniels could continue the job he started. Eddie was able to claw his way to a tag. Davey stepped in, getting dropkicked off his feet. Strong tried to fly off the middle rope, but Davey stopped him by holding him in place. Eddie ran across the apron, connecting with an enzuguri to Strong. After kicking Strong in the chest, Davey pitched Roderick to the floor so Eddie could kick his back in. Strong ended up on the wrong side of town, and tried his hardest to fight out of that corner. Strong almost leapt to a tag, but Eddie caught him and took him back to The Wolves’ lair. Davey also did his best to prevent Strong from tagging out. Davey lost his grip of Strong, getting gourd busted. Davey tagged out just as Roderick did the same.
Daniels was on fire, peppering Eddie with various strikes. The STO by Daniels didn’t get him the three count, but Daniels kept his cool. After connecting with a flying knee, Daniels hit the Death Valley driver. Eddie valiantly kicked out before the three count. Davey ran in, helping Eddie forearm Daniels in his head. Davey missile dropkicked Daniels in position for Eddie’s Achilles Lock. Davey grabbed Daniels’ legs when Eddie pushed Daniels into the ropes, using a dragon screw to wobble Christopher. Davey kicked Daniels’ legs from underneath him as Eddie held him, setting up Eddie’s Achilles Lock. With Daniels on his stomach, Davey took the opportunity to use a flying head-butt aimed at Daniels’ back. Strong was the only thing to save his partner from tapping. Backbreaker by Strong gave Daniels enough time to recover and tag out.
Strong and Davey were going strike for strike until Davey hit the ropes and got caught in a backbreaker. Davey stopped the gut-buster, but not the enzuguri. Gut-buster only got Strong a near fall. Strong gets in another strike exchange with Davey. This time, Davey is able to use his kicks to knock the wind out of Strong. Handspring enzuguri by Davey, and somehow, Strong was able to get his shoulders off the mat before the three count. Strong took stereo kicks from The Wolves, leaving him lifeless. Thankfully for Strong, Daniels was there to stop the pin attempt. Strong back dropped his way out of the DR Driver, kicking Davey on the back of his head right after. Daniels tagged in, using a blue thunder driver on Richards. Davey kicked out before the three, causing Daniels to call for the Angel’s Wings. Davey countered with the DR Driver. Daniels blocked the Driver, ending up in an ankle lock. Daniels somehow made it to the ropes before tapping out. Daniels took several hard kicks to the chest, firing back with palm strikes. Daniels hit the ropes for some momentum, but ran into the alarm clock. The attack didn’t drop Daniels, allowing “The Fallen Angel” to catch Davey running with an uranage. Before Daniels could execute the Best Moonsault Ever, Eddie jumped onto the apron. Strong stopped whatever Eddie had in mind, taking him down. Before Daniels could get his balance on the top, Davey ran up the ropes, German superplexing Daniels across the ring. Davey jumped on top of Daniels, pinning “The Fallen Angel” to give Daniels his first loss since returning to ROH.
Frustrations boiled over between Strong and Daniels afterwards.
