ROH TV Episode 61 Featuring Christopher Daniels' HDNet Debut, Colt Cabana vs. Steve Corino, The Briscoes Family Reunion, And More

6/14/10: Tonight, Death Before Dishonor VIII comes early when Steve Corino takes on Colt Cabana. Also, the contract signing for the DBD World title match happens tonight. But first…

Christopher Daniels vs. Bobby Shields
Streamers for Daniels, as well as his old TNA theme song. Still crazy to see Daniels follow the Code of Honor. Daniels quickly puts Shields on his back after a series of hip tosses. Shields turned the tide by rushing Daniels backwards. Shields hit the ropes for some momentum, only to run into the STO. Daniels ducked a wild right after Shields blocked an Irish whip off the ropes, connecting with an enzuguri to the back of Shields’ head. After slamming Bobby with the uranage, Daniels executes the Best Moonsault Ever to complete his HDNet debut with success.
Daniels decides to address the crowd, reminding us of how he confronted Davey Richards at the last pay-per-view because Davey’s been calling himself the best wrestler in the world. Daniels wants everyone to know that Davey isn’t the only one he’s calling out. Daniels is going to teach every wrestler that the best wrestler in the world is the man with the microphone right now.

Kyle Durden is in the back with Steve Corino. Before Durden can complete his question, Corino whips out a list. What’s on the list, you ask? The people Steve Corino doesn’t like. Cabana’s name is boldly on the list. Another guy from Chicago is also on the list named Phillip. Corino explained that Cabana’s name was taken off the list because he thought Cabana was a good guy. But he was wrong and put Colt back on the list even though, “Once your name goes on the list, it never comes off.” Way to keep continuity, Steve. All of a sudden, we hear Kevin Steen echo the name, “El Generico.” Seemingly, Steen was sitting behind Durden and Corino the whole time like some pervert. Steen thinks back to six months ago when he ditched Generico. Steen has no problems with what could and will happen on June 19th-six months to the day Steen turned on Generico. Steen promises a Mortal Kombat-like fatality in Toronto.

Mike Hogewood couldn’t be happier about Generico vs. Steen. But that’s not all happening in Toronto Saturday. Both the World and Tag Team titles will be on the line, exclusively on GoFightLive.com.

We shoot to the arena where Kyle Durden is with Mike Briscoe-father of The Briscoes. Mike Briscoe looks like the long lost brother of The Sandman. Papa Briscoe couldn’t be prouder of his boys because they are going to give him the best possible Father’s Day present ever when they beat the Kings of Wrestling and bring home those ROH Tag Team belts for the seventh time.

The Briscoes vs. Sid Reeves & Bob Evans
The brothers from Delaware look more fired up with their father watching from ringside. Jay starts off with King Kong Bundy-lite, Bob Evans. Jay arm dragged and hip tossed Evans with ease before tagging out. Jay whipped Evans into Mark’s springboard back elbow for a two count. Double team shoulder tackle lays out Evans for a two count. Mark missed the clothesline, taking one from Evans to allow Bob to tag out. Mark flipped out of Sid’s belly to back suplex, tagging out to his bother. Jay was full speed ahead, sending Evans into Mark’s iconoclast. Jay suplexed Sid as Mark dove on Bob at ringside. Jay Driller to Sid gives The Briscoes some momentum heading Toronto.

We get some fans’ opinions on the Death Before Dishonor main event. The first guy-who’s been shopping too much at Hot Topic-picks Davey for the win. Next up was a woman who looked like she ate Beth Phoenix, threw her up, then ate her again has Tyler’s back. A family straight out of Deliverance screams in favor Davey Richards. Several urban youths love Tyler Black. One normal looking guy has Davey as his pick. A few drunks scream Tyler Black until we are interrupted by Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli.

Hero spits one of the greatest lines I’ve ever heard to open a promo, “I couldn’t help but notice that we are in the presence of the proud patriarch of the missing chromosome clan known as ‘Dem Briscoe Boys.’” Chris is awesome! Mike Briscoe promises a butt whooping as Hero spouts off that The Briscoes have made a ton of mistakes by even thinking that they’ll beat the Kings of Wrestling come Saturday. Hero notes that Mike made the biggest mistake of them all for not using protection, and spawning Mark and Jay. Oh, thems fightin’ words! Mike jumps the rail, knocking security out of the way before slapping the taste out of Hero’s mouth. Hero elbows Mike Briscoe in response, knocking him the…um, yeah, Hero dropped Mike Briscoe. The Briscoes rush ringside, chasing Hero and Claudio to the back as referees checked on Papa Briscoe. Between a slew of censored language, The Briscoes show some concern for their father’s health.

Hogewood was furious over Hero’s action, but Prazak felt it was payback for what The Briscoes did to “Queen” Sara Del Rey.

For another session of “’Who Ya Got For The World Title,’ hosted by Kyle Durden” we head to the back. Grizzly Redwood is banking on the World champ, Tyler Black, “Because no one’s better than the World champ.” Erick Stevens likes Davey Richards because of his style. Jim Cornette decides to pull a Switzerland. Kevin Steen’s pick, “El Generico’s gonna die in Toronto. That’s all you need to know.” Steen is awesome! Corino gives Durden the cold shoulder while on the phone. For some reason, they ask Eddie Edwards; who is just as shocked as I am. Double gold for The American Wolves. Rasche Brown likes Davey Richards. Jay also likes Davey because, “Davey, he’s just rollin’ right now.” Rhett Titus doesn’t care who wins until Austin Aries regains the ROH World title. Speaking of A-Double, Aries-with pipe smoking action-predicts a great match, with a winner that is declared the World champion.

Colt Cabana vs. Steve Corino
Cabana jumps Corino in the aisle before the action enters the ring. Corino quickly takes a flying @$$hole. Furious, Corino pulled out a table when Colt pitched him to the floor. The referee stopped whatever either man had in mind with the table, sending the action back inside the ring. Colt honed in on Corino’s left arm after Steve clotheslined the ring post instead of Cabana. Corino was able to send Colt outside. They started fighting on the timekeeper’s table until Cabana pitched Corino over the barricade, into the fifth row of chairs. Cabana spent too much time playing to the crowd when he rolled Corino back into the ring, getting caught in a STO. Cabana took a knife-edge chop before hulking up like Sting. The fistfight in the middle of the ring ended with a bionic elbow from Cabana. Cabana blocked the clothesline counter, but not the clothesline on the rebound. Sliding clothesline from Corino only gives him a near fall. Cabana countered whatever Corino was setting up for, power bombing him. Corino rolled to the floor, but found no haven as Cabana slid through the ropes, kicking Steve into the guardrails headfirst. Cabana grabbed the tables he and Corino set up earlier. Using the tables as a vice around Steve’s neck, Cabana had Corino stuck on his knees. Cabana laid a chair on the table, with the seat facing Corino’s face. Cabana grabbed a second chair, causing the referee to get in front of Colt. Cabana shoved the ref out of the way, forcing him to call for the bell and end the match.
But this fight isn’t over. Using the chair in his hands, Cabana bowled the chair into Corino’s face. Cabana tossed a table into the ring, setting it up in the corner. Corino’s bleeding as Cabana grabs him. Before Cabana could send Steve through the table, Steve’s son Colby ran to ringside as a distraction for Kevin Steen’s super kick to Cabana’s face. Before Steen and Corino could continue the onslaught, Generico’s music hit. El Generico came running to ringside, ducking Corino’s clothesline upon entering the ring. Generico yakuza kicked Steen before suplexing Corino on his head. Generico hoisted Steen onto the ropes. Before Steen could get Brain Busted, Corino dumped Generico over the top rope. Steen rushed Cabana, sending him back first into the tabled turnbuckles thrice. Generico reentered, confronting Steen. They were going tooth and nail. Big clothesline sends Steen to the floor so Generico could somersault on top of him. Generico laid Steen on the timekeeper’s table for something, but Corino save Steen before his body could be driven through the table.

Kyle Durden had Roderick Strong by his side to ask what’s going to happen in the Death Before Dishonor VIII main event. Strong feels something screwy will happen, just like it’s been happening to him in World title matches. I certainly hope he’s wrong because I smell a mutiny if it does.

Jim Cornette is here to moderate the contract signing. Both men get stat rundowns during their entrances. Davey has Eddie and Shane Hagadorn by his side as Prazak declares Davey the next World champion. Davey signs the contract with no qualms. Davey does have some comments though. Davey is going to prove that he is the best in the world when he wins the ROH World title Saturday. Like his challenger, Black signs the contract without a second thought before voicing his opinion. Black holds up the ROH World title that signifies he’s the best in the world. Black promises that Eddie Edwards and Shane Hagadorn won’t be involved in the main event in any way, shape, or form. Davey tells Black not to worry because Shane and Eddie will be in the locker room. Before we can conclude this meeting, Christopher Daniels comes to the ring. Daniels is here to tell both men that no matter who wins in Toronto, their greatest challenge will not be their DBD opponent, but Christopher Daniels.

We get a great video to hype the top three matches of the pay-per-view to close out this week’s show.
