ROH On HDNet Episode 15 (6/27/09)
Mike Hogewood and Dave Prazak are here to introduce us to tonight’s show, as well as the main event of The American Wolves vs. Tyler Black and Bryan Danielson for the ROH World Tag Team title.
Fight Without Honor: Jimmy Jacobs vs. Delirious
Jacobs sent Brodie Lee and MsChif to the back upon his entrance. “Red Poison” Delirious here tonight, going toe to toe with Jacobs at the sound of the bell. Diving clothesline by Delirious sent Jacobs to the floor so Delirious could dive on him again. Jacobs recovered, whipping Delirious into the barricades. Delirious also recovered, avoiding Jacobs’ attack before Panic Attacking Jacobs as Jimmy laid against the guardrails. Delirious pulled out a table, setting it up on the barricade. Jimmy was bleeding after that Panic Attack. Jimmy blocked the cobra clutch suplex through the table, swinging Delirious face first into the steel ring post. Jacobs pitched a couple of chairs into the ring before doing the same with Delirious. Jimmy slammed Delirious’ face against one of the chairs. Jacobs followed up by slamming the chair across Delirious’ back. Jacobs put Delirious in one of the chairs, knocking him through it after a jump off the top rope. The action spilled to the outside again. Delirious was stuck in a chair, in position for Jimmy to use that plancha. Delirious moved at the last second, causing Jacobs to hit the seat of the chair left knee first. Delirious ran to the top with a chair in hand, bringing it down atop Jacobs. Delirious wanted Jacobs to bleed even more so that he was as he clawed at the cut. Jimmy speared Delirious when he went for the Panic Attack again. Jacobs locked Delirious in the End Time. The referee checked Delirious’ arm to see if he had any life left in him. Of course his arm stayed in the air on the third check. Jacobs pulled out the railroad spike, preparing to stab Delirious. The masked man moved at the last second, causing Jacobs to spike the top turnbuckle. Delirious caught the stunned Jacobs, cobra clutch suplexing Jacobs for a near fall. Jacobs stopped Shadows Over Hell with a chair shot. Delirious was on the apron, noticing the table was behind him. Delirious sidestepped Jacobs’ spear attempt, causing him to collide with the table. With Jimmy laid out on the table, Delirious jumped off the top rope, driving Jacobs through it with Shadows Over Hell. Delirious rolled Jimmy into the ring to get the three count.
Jimmy stabbed himself with the railroad spike after realizing what happened.
Kyle Durden was with Tyler Black and Bryan Danielson. Danielson explained that he didn’t have to be best friends with Tyler to win the only title he’s never won in ROH. Black echoed Danielson’s sentiments.
We get some highlights of the Dark City Fight Club’s destruction since coming to ROH. Tonight it’s about another team, The Young Bucks. Nick and Matt Jackson are here to shoot some adrenaline in Ring of Honor.
The Young Bucks vs. Brandon Day & Sal Rinuaro
The Bucks didn’t hit the double dropkick, but they recovered, with Matt flapjacking Nick into a dropkick on both men that sent them to the floor. Matt decided to do a dropkick through the ropes to set up for Nick’s somersault plancha. Double hip toss into a back flip double dropkick by The Bucks had Sal fighting for air. Sal raked Matt in the eyes, tagging out. Day and Sal were using quick tags to attempt to keep Matt grounded. Double clothesline sent Matt to the mat after being whipped off the ropes. The fans were behind The Bucks as Matt pushed Sal into Day. Matt flipped out of a belly to back suplex, tagging out. Nick dropkicked Sal off the apron before using a springboard face buster on Day. Unique neck breaker/back breaker double team by The Bucks on Rinuaro had Sal rolling to the floor. Day got super kicked by Nick to set up Matt’s Finlay roll, which set up for Nick’s 450 splash, which set up for Matt’s moonsault. Whew! Matt gets the pin for his team in their HDNet debut.
Claudio Castagnoli requested some interview time. Why? Because Claudio wants to embarrass Brent Albright in a Flag match.
Two weeks ago, Austin Aries survived the onslaught of Jerry Lynn and Tyler Black to win his second ROH World title.
Speaking of champions, Kyle Durden was with the ROH World Tag Team champions, The American Wolves. Davey Richards said their previous match with their challengers of the evening was a limit testing one, but now The Wolves are ready to devour.
Brent Albright vs. Ernie Osiris w/Prince Nana
Ernie really didn’t want to wrestle Brent. “Dirty” Ernie disgusted Albright when they locked up. So Brent gave up on the wrestling and just started tossing and chopping Osiris across the ring. Ernie poked Albright in the eyes before making him take a pit stop. Albright recovered, hoisting Ernie off the mat, hitting the air raid crush. Albright just started slamming Ernie on the top turnbuckle back first before using the Half Nelson Suplex to finish Ernie off. SLAP THE PORPOISE, IT’S OVER FOLKS!
Kyle Durden asked if Brent Albright wanted to accept the challenge of Claudio Castagnoli and the flag match.
ROH on HDNet will be preempted next week. But when they return, we’ll have the Flag match, as well as a six-man tag match with Jerry Lynn, Kenny Omega, and Erick Stevens taking on Austin Aries, Kenny King, and Rhett Titus.
ROH World Tag Team title: The American Wolves (c) w/Shane Hagadorn and Sara Del Rey vs. Bryan Danielson & Tyler Black
Before the champs could come out, a dressed up Nigel McGuinness entered the ringside area. Nigel was here to wish good luck to the challengers, especially when the challengers don’t truly trust each other.
Black and Edwards start if off, with Eddie trying to wrestle Black off his feet. It didn’t work well as Eddie had to tag out, as did Tyler. Davey kicked his way out of the wristlock, feeling pretty smug. Danielson dropkicked Davey after flipping through Richards’ wristlock, angering Davey. Richards requested Black come in again. They locked up, with Tyler hip tossing Davey a couple of times before head locking him off his feet. Eddie came in, getting kicked down by Danielson when Bryan became the legal man. Knee strike and running kick to the chest by Bryan stunned Eddie long enough for Black to tag in. Eddie grabbed Black, rushing him into the champs’ corner so Richards could come in. Davey avoided the stomp to the chest, but not the kick to it when he sat up. Danielson and Black tried to keep Davey on their side of the ring, kicking Richards’ back. Davey made it to the ropes, but couldn’t get away from Danielson’s grip.
Danielson couldn’t get the surfboard locked in, so he pulled Davey’s face back by his mouth. Like Eddie, Davey grabbed Black by the waist when he tagged in, rushing him into the corner for Edwards to tag in. Black and Eddie were going chop for chop until Black had Danielson ping ponging Eddie. Danielson tagged in so he could put Eddie in the surfboard. Danielson held Eddie on his knees so Black could dropkick Eddie. Edwards recovered, tagging out after pushing Danielson into their corner. Danielson knocked Davey off his feet, kicking Richards in the back. Danielson put Davey in an Indian deathlock, leaving himself wide open for Eddie’s sneak attack. Dropkick by Danielson sent Davey to the floor. Eddie tripped Danielson up, and then Black did it to Edwards, pulling him to the floor. Danielson jumped over the top, diving on top of the champions. Davey dropkicked Danielson out of the sky when Danielson went for the missile dropkick. Black’s arguing with the ref allowed Eddie to get some cheap shots on Danielson. Big knee to the ribs of Danielson by Davey left Bryan on the mat, letting Davey to kick Danielson in the back. Danielson ran up the turnbuckles after Eddie whipped him across the ring, springing off the ropes. Before Danielson could do anything, Richards kicked him in the back. Danielson flipped out of the belly to back double team, forearming both champions down.
Tyler Black tagged in, sending both Wolves to the floor so he could somersault on top of them. Springboard clothesline on Davey by Black got Black a close near fall. Black missed the caperana, but not the standing shooting star for another near fall. Richards kicked Black in the back of his head as Eddie forearmed Black in the face after getting some assist from his partner. Eddie set Black up for the missile dropkick by Richards. Danielson jumped off the top rope, kneeing Richards. Flying forearm by Danielson, then one by Black allowed Black to whip Davey into Danielson’s flying knee. Black missed the Phoenix Splash, rolling to his feet, big booting him in the face. Davey recovered with the help of Eddie, who slipped in, flapjacking Black into the Alarm Clock. Eddie power bombed Black into Richards’ backstabber. Danielson fought off both Wolves, but not for long. Richards kicked Danielson on the chest a couple of times before hitting the ropes. Davey actually ran into the Pele kick by Black.
All four men were down afterwards, having to pull themselves up before slugging away. Black super kicked Davey for the turnbuckle bomb as Eddie got locked in the triangle choke. Both Wolves saved their title by making it to the ropes. To forearm Eddie off the apron, Danielson accidentally knocked Black off the ropes to stop the Phoenix Splash. As the challengers argued, Davey cradled Black while Eddie pulled down Danielson. Davey hooked Black, getting a three count to retain the belts.
Danielson and Black got in a shoving contest until Danielson backed off. Black wanted to apologize, but Danielson slapped him.
