3/08/10:A little less than a month ago, Tyler Black achieved his dream of becoming the Ring of Honor World champion by defeating Austin Aries at the company’s 8th Anniversary event. The babyfaces of the locker room (and Cary Silkin) celebrated with Black. Jim Cornette busted the party, asking why Tyler super kicked him in the face. Black explained that he did what had to be done to win. Cornette yelped that he will only focus on what’s best for Ring of Honor instead of worrying what will good for certain individuals.
Kenny King brought the camera crew to Austin Aries, who lamented that he wants just one title shot to regain his championship.
Strong told Cary Silkin that he wants retribution for Black super kicking him even though Strong saved Black from Kenny King interference in that match. Silkin passed the buck to Cornette before leaving Strong frustrated.
Jim Cornette returned to inform us that he has a decision regarding the title situation between Black, Aries, and Strong that involved ROH’s next I-PPV, The Big Bang. And we will find out what that is, tonight.

Rayna Von Tash from Shimmer is here to showcase the ROH World TV title belt before we see the brackets. Mike Hogewood is betting on Cabana for the win. Dave Prazak banks on Kenny King.

ROH TV title tournament 1st Round match: Kevin Steen w/Steve Corino vs. Rhett Titus
Steen took a fan’s sign that read, “Kiss me Rhett, it’s my birthday.” That person didn’t get a kiss after Steen ripped their sign up. Neither man could get an advantage off the collar & elbow tie up. Steen lit Titus’ chest and face up with punches and chops after witnessing a pelvic thrust pointed in his direction. Titus fought back, monkey flipping Steen across the ring. Titus put Steen on the top rope. Steen stopped whatever Titus had in mind, arm breaking “Addicted To Love”. “Mr. Wrestling” followed up by whipping Titus shoulder first into the steel ring post several times. Hammerlock side Russian leg sweep by Steen got him a two count. Titus used Steen’s mouth against him as Kevin did some trash talking, but the momentum didn’t last long for Titus after taking another arm breaker. Titus stopped a shoulder breaker, dropkicking Steen off his feet. Avalanche splash by Titus. Rhett unleashed a series of running attacks, ending with the rocker dropper for a two count. Titus used that codebreaker/running blockbuster combo, but it didn’t hold Steen down for those precious three seconds. Steen blocked the Muff Driver, power bombing Titus. Titus somehow got his shoulder up before the three count, frustrating Steen. Titus stopped Steen’s ascent with a right hand. Titus wanted to use the super sex factor, but ended up in the tree of woe. Steen used the position to cannonball splash Titus. When Titus hit the mat, Steen locked him in the crossface to force Titus to tap out.

Hogewood and Prazak were at their swanky announce booth to lead us to The Big Bang main event announcement.

Jim Cornette sat between Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, and the ROH World champion Tyler Black. All three men had arguments for who should be the next one in line to face Black. Cornette decided that both Aries and Strong would get the World title shot in a triple threat match. Roderick didn’t like that one bit. Cornette said Strong sounded like Bret Hart, crying about being screwed all the time now. Roderick stormed off, allowing Aries to attempt to cut a deal with Black so they could eliminate Strong from the match, then settle it between each other in a one on one situation. Black expressed himself in an explicatory manner directed toward both challengers. Tyler’s words brought back a furious Strong. Roderick yoked Cornette when Jim tried to get between the men, causing Black to attempt to intercede. Strong decked Black as Aries scurried off.

Kings of Wrestling w/Sara Del Rey & Shane Hagadorn vs. The Bravado Brothers
Both Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli were sporting Ribera jackets from their recent tour of Japan. Claudio now has matching short tights like Hero. Oh yeah, and they have plaques, too. Hero and Castagnoli just toyed with Lance Bravado. Double bicycle kick leveled to poor kid. Even Del Rey got involved when she kicked Lance on the sly. Lance ducked a big boot from Hero, getting tagged out on the blind side. Lance caught Hero’s boot, holding him in position for Harlem’s enzuguri. The Brothers were on fire until Hero propelled Harlem into Claudio’s tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Hart Attack Elbow on Lance set up for Claudio’s big swing into Hero’s dropkick. Harlem felt the power of the KRS-1, which only means one thing: SLAP THE PORPOISE, IT’S OVER FOLKS!
Hero grabbed the microphone after their win, informing The Briscoes that they will beat the brothers Briscoe to win the ROH World Tag Team title at The Big Bang in Charlotte on April 3rd (that’s how you plug an event).

Hogewood and Prazak converse over Necro Butcher’s suspension due to Necro’s beating up ring crew and officials during the brawl from a couple weeks back.

Kyle Durden stood with Prince Nana for a series of questions. The first regarded the reuniting of Hero and Claudio. Prince Nana bragged about bringing Hero and Claudio back together after three years of trying (even though he was gone for most of those three years, but I digress). Kyle Durden felt bad for Necro getting suspended due to Necro’s fight with Nana’s Erick Stevens. Nana felt no remorse for Necro because it’s Butcher’s fault that his food stamps expired. Nana commented on Skullkrusher Rasche Brown being nothing but big money in ROH, “Brown, join the family.”

Skullkrusher Rasche Brown vs. Caleb Conley
Brown tried to show some respect to the much smaller Conley, but Caleb thought otherwise. Conley felt the power of the palm strike to the chest, Akuma style. Huge spear turned Conley inside out. One Burning Hammer later, and Conley is a dead Carolinian.

Kyle Durden was with Colt Cabana to talk about the TV title tournament. Cabana felt this was made for him because he’s made for TV. But what about Generico’s mental status? Cabana felt being in the tournament is good for Generico. Steve Corino interrupted the interview to tell Cabana that Steen has made it to the semis of the TV title tournament. Corino wanted Cabana to forget about Generico and his useless ways. Corino warned Cabana that he better stop associating with Generico if he knows what’s good for him.

After running down the card thus far for The Big Bang, Prazak and Hogewood wondered about the future of The American Wolves after taking two back-to-back losses on HDNet. Next week, Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards will take on Colt Cabana and Delirious respectively in TV title tournament matches.

ROH TV title tournament 1st Round match: El Generico vs. Kenny King
Neither man could get a solid advantage off the initial tie up. Generico turned a kick attempt from King to his advantage, chopping Kenny around the ring. That spinning arm drag from Generico sent King to the floor to regroup. Generico got plowed through via a shoulder block. Generico fought back, using a couple of quick attacks-including a backbreaker-to turn the tide back in his favor. King feigned an injury, hooking Generico’s left arm before slinging it in a bad direction across the top rope. King wringed the arm across the top rope when he pushed the masked man into the corner. Leg drop on the injured appendage by King for a two count. King suplexed Generico into some grounding and pounding. King hammerlocked Generico’s left arm before abdominal stretching El Generico with it. Generico was able to struggle to the ropes to save himself. King stayed on top of El Generico, attacking that left arm any time Generico tried to fight back. King took too much time showboating, allowing Generico to recover and clothesline him with his right arm. Big back body drop by Generico had the fans getting behind Generico.
Generico clotheslined King to the floor for something high flying. Kenny was ready, but so was Generico. When King turned to the ring after sidestepping what he thought was a plancha, he found El Generico on the apron. Arabian press by Generico to a huge ovation. Generico followed up with a cross body block off the top rope when the action returned to the ring. King stopped the blue thunder driver, but not a Michinoku driver. King kicked out of Generico’s follow up pin, causing Generico to stomp in anticipation for the yakuza kick. When Generico started running, so did Kenny, who used those shotgun knees to flip El Generico backwards. Generico was able to get his shoulder up to stop the three count. King wanted to use the shotgun knee attack again, but Generico stopped him by running after him off the Irish whip. King avoided Generico’s yakuza kick, capoeria-kicking Generico on the back of his head. King quickly unleashed another spinning kick, followed by a clothesline. Generico showed his fighting spirit by kicking out of a sure three count. Generico stopped the Coronation, and avoided some shotgun knees. Generico finally connected with the yakuza kick.
Generico wanted to fly again, but King stopped that from happening by jumping from the mat, kicking Generico’s head again. Generico stopped whatever King had in mind, hanging him in the tree of woe. Generico ran across the rope, getting ready to fly. Coast to coast somersault dropkick by Generico. Unfortunately for the masked man, King was close enough to the ropes to save himself. Generico scaled to the top again, only for Kenny to push the referee into the ropes, crotching Generico. King met El Generico on the ropes, using a super Royal Flush to earn himself a pin fall, and advancement into the semifinals of the TV title tournament.
