Supercard of Honor has become one of the more premiere events on the Ring of Honor calendar since the first one three years ago. But this year is different from all the previous editions for one reason: no Dragon Gate. The Japanese stars will be replaced with a more international mix, including KENTA and Nakajima from Japan, Incognito, Magno, and Blue Demon Jr. from Mexico, and the Russian export, Alex Koslov. Not enough for you? Well, how about the highly anticipated rematch between Nigel McGuinness and Jerry Lynn for the ROH World title. Oh, you just want to know one thing? Okay, lets find out of this Supercard of Honor is Worth Your Money.

Supercard of Honor IV

Houston, TX

4/03/09

ROH World champion Nigel McGuinness greets us once again to talk about his historic reign as champion. But the sound in his voice is little more regretful than usual. Actually he sounds downright depressed because he doesn’t enjoy defending that belt anymore, especially when his body is in the shape it’s now. Nigel just wants this thing to end, but he can’t get over the fact that he has to prove every doubter wrong. He’ll hold onto the title until that day where there are no doubters left. Nigel moved to his challenger for the evening, Jerry Lynn, who he wrestled three years ago on this very same weekend. But they have changed in regards to their positions in the wrestling world, and Jerry will not win the ROH title tonight.

Rhett Titus vs. Erick Stevens

Titus stuffed his hand down his tights before offering the hand for a shake. Titus used the disgust of Stevens to get a jump on him. Titus had Stevens reeling until he tried to whip him into the ropes. Stevens reversed it, catching him with a Samoan drop. Stevens used a side Russian leg sweep to float over into a cover. Titus was hurting so bad he was humping the mat, and the air. I’m glad the referee wasn’t too close. Titus clawed his way out of the press slam, hitting the muff driver. Titus showed why the thrust is a must by kneeing the incoming Stevens in the chest after he was stopped from using the big ten punches in the corner. Sexy suplex by Titus got him a two count. Stevens powered out of the neck crank, throwing some wild rights. Titus ducked under one, neck breaking Stevens for another two count. Titus was in full control as he targeted Erick’s neck. Big dropkick from Titus got the fans to actually clap in approval. Titus wanted to give them what they wanted by going to the top rope. It didn’t work too well as Stevens caught him with a belly-to-belly suplex. Stevens started plowing through Titus with ease. Flapjack left Titus wobbly for the flying shoulder block off the middle rope. Titus thumbed his way out of the Doctor Bomb. Stevens stopped another muff driver, choo-choo rushing Titus after back dropping him into the corner. Press and swat by Stevens finishes Titus off.

Chris Hero, Eddie Edwards, Incognito w/Shane Hagadorn vs. Jay Briscoe, Kevin Steen, Magno

Steen immediately hit the ring, attacking Eddie. Steen spit on the fleeing Edwards as Jay and Magno tried to hold Kevin back. Jay and Hero were the first official men in, with Jay shoulder tackling Hero across the ring. Hero clawed his way to an advantage, which didn’t last long as Jay dropkicked him, then tossed Hero with a back body drop. Hero pushed Jay to his corner, tagging in Incognito. Jay elbowed Incognito so he could tag in the other masked man, Magno. Magno hit the ropes, only for the top rope to snap. Seriously, the thing snapped, almost sending Magno to the floor while attacking the referee. Magno was caught in the top rope with the help of Eddie and Incognito. Steen ran over, whipping Edwards into the barricades as Incognito sit-down power bombed Magno for a two count. Incognito powered both himself and Magno off the mat when he was stuck in a top wristlock. Magno somehow rolled forward, arm barring Incognito. Incognito did it again, slamming Magno so he could tag out to Hero, who stepped over the top (middle) rope to enter, because he’s a big man. Senton splash by Hero angered Magno’s partners. Steen ran over, knocking down Edwards again. Steen got caught between the broken rope and Chris Hero, allowing Eddie to dropkick his left leg from underneath “Mr. Wrestling”.

Hero dropped an elbow across Steen’s knee from the middle rope. Steen fought back by using the top turnbuckle to pop Hero in the face. Hero responded with a flash kick to get a near fall. Incognito missile dropkicked the back of Steen’s leg. Steen was on the wrong part of the ring, just being abused by his opponents. Steen blocked the spinning toe hold from all three men before attempting to tag out. Hero and Eddie pulled Jay and Magno off the apron right as Steen leapt off the mat. Incognito had Steen’s legs tied up and rolling. Dragon screw into the STF by Eddie had Steen clawing to the ropes. He made it just as Hero ran in to make sure Steen’s partners couldn’t help him. Code breaker by Steen got enough space between himself and Eddie to out just as he kicked Hero away.

Jay became the legal man, manning up on both Eddie and Hero. Downward spiral by Jay sent his face into Edwards’ crotch. Hero recovered, elbowing Jay in the side of his head. Sit-down power bomb by Hero got him a two count. Series of forearms and elbows ended with Hero getting kicked in the face. Jay tagged in Magno, who sprung off the broken top turnbuckle, using a hurricarana to send Hero to the floor. Magno dropkicked Incognito to the floor, before arm dragging Eddie to the same area. Steen somersaulted over the laying top rope, leveling all three of his opponents. Magno one-upped him by moonsaulting off the top of the ring post. Shane distracted Magno so Hero could pull out the elbow pad of Misawa goodness. Rolling Elbow to the face of Magno knocks him the…uh, yeah. Hero gets the pin for his team.

D-Lo Brown, “HEEL” t-shirt and all, wanted to answer why he’s been acting the way he’s been. You know, cheating and stuff. Brown did it because he wanted to. You know, kicking Jay Briscoe in the balls and such. Brown doesn’t care how he beats anyone, especially Colt Cabana tonight. You know, with dirty tactics and…yeah.

Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Roderick Strong

Neither man could get a solid advantage in the early moments, but it was pretty obvious Nakajima had the agility advantage. Strong quickly turned this thing into a chop fest. I swear I’d never start a chop exchange with either of these men. Nakajima quickly learned that a chop battle isn’t a good idea, leg sweeping Strong. An underhook suplex set Strong up for Nakajima’s running kick to the chest. Strong caught Nakajima running with a dropkick. Strong followed up by chopping, clotheslining, and belly to back suplexing the Kensuke Office star. First backbreaker of the match came after Strong’s failed pin attempt. Nakajima blocked the gut-buster, dropkicking Strong’s left knee from underneath him. Katsuhiko dragon screw leg whipped Strong, causing him to scream out. Strong was stuck on the mat, just getting his legs twisted. Strong got whipped into the turnbuckles after refusing to quit. Nakajima ran into an enzuguri just as Dave Prazak proclaimed Strong a future World champion. Face plant by Strong got him a chance to shake some feeling into that hurt leg. Chop exchange! Fighting spirit from Nakajima ends with one of his kicks getting caught, and being cradle back broken. But that just hurt Strong as much as it did Nakajima. Nakajima stopped Strong from jumping off the ropes with a spinning heel kick. That was impressive. Another spin kick, this time to the back of Strong after Nakajima ran up the ropes. Brain buster by Nakajima only gives Katsuhiko a near fall. Strong avoided the super kick, going for the Stronghold. Nakajima spun him into the ankle lock, but couldn’t get a good grip due to Strong’s flailing toward the ropes. Nakajima went for another kick to the head, only to get caught again in a backbreaker. Nakajima super kicked his way out being chopped too many times. Strong ducked another one, kicking him in the back of his head before executing the gut-buster. In a show of great fortitude, Strong jumped off the mat, yakuza kicking Nakajima before finishing him off with the Gibson Driver.

Sweet & Sour Challenge match: Bobby Dempsey vs. Kamala w/Kimchee & Shane Hagadorn

Yes, this is the real Kamala. Well, I think it is. He’s wearing sandals, so I don’t know. Dempsey rips off his shirt to reveal his Kamala style body paint. Hagadorn got mad with Kimchee when he couldn’t Kamala to attack. Kimchee decked Hagadorn before ordering Kamala to avalanche splash him. Dempsey followed up with the cannonball before getting his belly tapped by Kimchee.

Alex Koslov speaks in Russian. I barely know Spanish, so I have no idea what he’s saying outside of, “ROH,” and, “Bryan Danielson”. Oh, I think he said he’s going to be a champion in Ring of Honor. Not going to tell you how I figured that one out.

Four Corner Survival: NWA champion Blue Demon Jr. vs. Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brent Albright vs. ROH Tag Team champion El Generico

Albright had Claudio on the chase before the bell sounded. Demon and Claudio kicked this thing off. Demon broke clean after getting Claudio in the corner. Claudio didn’t when they ended up in the same position. Demon paid him back with a slap. Demon was doing his lucha stuff, head scissoring Claudio to the floor. Castagnoli avoided the baseball slide, but not a right hand to the mouth. With no tags needed here, Albright came in, beating Claudio down when Demon tossed him back in. Claudio pulled down the top rope as Albright rushed him. Generico replaced Brent, with Demon helping him arm drag Claudio out of the ring. Generico followed up by doing the same to the NWA champ. Somersault plancha by Generico leveled Claudio. Clothesline from Albright got Brent a two count on Demon. Claudio pulled both Demon and Albright out of the ring, whipping them into the barricades. Claudio posed in the ring, only to get super hurricarana’ed by Generico. Claudio caught the running masked man with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Well, the paler masked man. Claudio knocked Albright off the apron after European uppercutting Generico.

Albright came in, getting into a fight with Claudio that almost gave Generico the chance to tag out. Generico flipped out of belly to back suplex, landing in Albright’s corner. Albright came in, clotheslining Claudio with ease. Leg lariat by Brent got him a two count. Jawbreaker by Claudio turned the tables. Claudio followed up with a couple of European uppercuts to set up Albright for an Irish whip. Brent got his boots up when Claudio came after him, knocking Castagnoli far enough back for Demon’s flying cross body block. Generico stopped the three count, getting into a chop exchange with his fellow luchador. Generico missed the yakuza kick, sailing to the floor. Demon saw his chance, topeing Generico.

Brent and Claudio were going back and forth. Claudio blocked the Crowbar and the half nelson suplex. Brent pushed the referee away when he tried to get Albright off of Claudio as they tumbled into the ropes. With the ref’s back to them, Claudio spun around, low blowing Albright. Before Demon could reenter the ring, Claudio got the three count.

Demon stopped Castagnoli before he could add more injury to an insulting injury.

Bryan Danielson vs. Alex Koslov

Alex shoulder blocked Danielson off his feet after breaking free of the headlock, getting the fans behind the American…“American Dragon” that is. Koslov was able to use Danielson’s left arm against him, only to end up getting dropkicked to get Danielson out of the wristlock. Danielson followed up with a loud, “U.S.A.!” The fans responded by screaming, “HOOOO!” First Kamala, then Hacksaw. Back to the action. Koslov had Danielson on his back after winning the test of strength. Danielson monkey flipped his way out of the predicament. Danielson posed uncharacteristically, getting pulled to the mat with a sunset flip. Danielson kicked out, going for the surfboard. Koslov made it to the ropes before Danielson could get it locked in. Danielson wrestled Koslov to the middle of the ring, going for the hold again. This time, Koslov used the strength in his legs to push Danielson off of him. The fans wanted Danielson to break Koslov’s arm, which Danielson refused to do by letting Alex get to the ropes. Koslov knocked the smirk of Danielson’s face, dropping all his weight across Bryan’s left knee. Koslov was using his knee to wrench the knee of Danielson. Danielson elbowed his way off the mat, trying to turn up the pace of this contest. Alex stopped it by throwing up the hand, followed by a chant for Russia. Danielson didn’t take kindly to it, surfboarding Alex to a huge ovation. Danielson used the hold to move into a dragon sleeper. Alex freed himself with a rake of Danielson’s face, rolling onto the apron. Alex grabbed Danielson, suplexing him from the inside to the floor. Alex dove on top of Danielson when “Dragon” got to his feet.

Koslov used another suplex when the action returned to the ring for a two count. Koslov unleashed the Cossack kicks, getting a near fall. Danielson ran up the turnbuckles when Koslov whipped him into them, using the momentum to execute the flying forearm. Danielson connected with another flying forearm, this time in the corner. Big knee to the ribs left Koslov sitting, open for the kick to the back. Koslov blocked Cattle Mutilation, enzuguring Danielson. Koslov followed up with the frog splash, only getting a two count. Koslov rolled Danielson over, using Cattle Mutilation. That’s just wrong. Danielson turned it around, only to get caught in those Danielson-like elbows. Danielson hulked up, but couldn’t complete the Hogan combo, ending with him getting caught in the Russian leg sweep. After laying the Russian flag over Danielson’s limp body, Koslov headed to the top. Danielson moved in time to avoid the big splash as Lenny Leonard nearly had an aneurysm due to the disrespect by Koslov and his flag. Danielson started elbowing Koslov in the neck to roll him into Cattle Mutilation. Alex had no choice but to tap out.

D-Lo Brown vs. Colt Cabana

No honor shown by Brown at the sound of the bell. Colt’s unorthodox offense had D-Lo a little frustrated, and caught in several pinning predicaments. Test of strength offered by Brown, which Colt took him up on. Brown got the immediate dominant position, but Cabana used those European skills to his advantage until he ended up on his knees, wide open for Brown’s shining wizard. King’s road, baby! Brown had Colt in position for the diving clothesline, but got caught in a crucifix. Brown kicked out, leveling Cabana with a leg lariat. Colt fought his way out of the corner, running into a clothesline just seconds later. Brown was upset when the referee told him to stop choking Colt, causing him to do some head shaking. Cabana fought his way out of a modified cobra clutch, but didn’t stay on his feet for long as Brown drove his knee into Cabana’s abdomen when Colt bounced off the ropes. Big right haymaker from Cabana knocked the spit out of Brown’s mouth. Brown reversed an Irish whip, but Colt used it to hit the caperana for a two count. Flying @$$hole from Colt. Brown recovered quickly, using the TKO to set up for senton from the second rope. Colt moved in time to avoid it, causing both men to have to use the ropes to pull themselves up. Colt elbowed Brown off his feet, in position for the Billy Goat’s Curse. Brown tapped his right hand on Colt’s ankle, causing Colt to release the hold in victory. But the referee was on the other side of ring, so the match is still going on. Brown caught Cabana with a small package, but couldn’t hold him down for the three count. Cabana was still a little preoccupied with the referee, allowing Brown to turn the Colt 45 into the Sky High Bomb. Colt stopped the Frog Splash, bionic elbowing Brown to the floor. Brown yanked out a pair of knucks from his tights, punching Colt on the chin when Colt jumped off with the top with the double axe handle attempt. Brown stuffed the international object into his tights as he got the pin.

GHC Jr. Heavyweight title: KENTA (c) vs. Davey Richards w/Eddie Edwards

No honor shown by Davey Richards as Lenny Leonard reminded us that Richards used to be KENTA’s protégé. KENTA quickly threw a head kick, but it was off the mark. The arm drag was not. Davey quickly got to his feet, showing that both men were on the same page by throwing stereo dropkicks. The test of strength was a battle second to none until Richards tripped KENTA up, snap marring him into a kick to the back. KENTA, instead of grimacing in pain, jumped up and slapped Davey before kicking him in the back, then with one to the chest. KENTA hit the ropes, seeing Davey attempting to leap frog him. KENTA jumped up, dropkicking Davey out of the sky. KENTA was in complete control, using a couple of elbow drops to set up for the insulating back kick to the face. A few more kicks to Davey’s chest had Richards gasping for air. KENTA got sent into the turnbuckles after an Irish whip reversal, back dropping Davey over the top rope when he rushed him. Davey landed on his feet on the apron, grabbing KENTA’s left leg before using the ropes to help dragon screw leg whip the champ. On the floor, Davey decided to take out a little anger on a ringside assistant, kicking him into the barricades. Back in the ring, Davey was working that leg over while taunting a couple of rowdy fans. Davey refused to give the fans the figure four leg lock, instead, using a modified Indian deathlock. KENTA was able to make it to the ropes as the crowd tried to fire him up. It worked, leading to a flying forearm, then a couple of clotheslines. Suplex by KENTA got him a chance to recover before heading to the top rope. KENTA got a two count after a flying clothesline. A series a kicks all over Davey had him set up for the fisherman buster for another two count. Davey got locked in the STF. Richards clawed his way to the ropes, cradling suplexing KENTA when he tried to rush him when The Wolf got to his feet, sending the champion to the floor. Davey flew through the ropes with a tope con hilo, landing in the crowd.

Davey quickly pushed KENTA into the ring, missile dropkicking the champion across the canvas. KENTA fired back with a kick to the face after getting forearmed in the same area. Davey responded by spin kicking KENTA in the abdomen before hitting the ropes. KENTA kicked him in the head again, causing Davey to do the same to him. Davey popped his hips, German suplexing KENTA. KENTA wasn’t done yet, causing the fans to chant, “This is awesome!” Davey placed KENTA on the top rope, but KENTA stopped what he had in mind with a slap to the face. Davey got missile dropkicked across the ring, allowing KENTA to yakuza kick Davey until he was seated in the corner. Davey looked up to find both of KENTA’s boots coming for his face. Sit-down power bomb by KENTA got him a two count as well. KENTA scaled the ropes, double stomping Davey’s chest. Somehow, Davey kicked out before the three count. Davey ducked the kick portion of the rapid-fire strikes, using a hurricarana to get some distance between himself and the champion. KENTA grabbed Davey, dropping him throat first across the top rope while landing on the apron. KENTA sprung off the top, only to get power bombed. Davey used the position to put KENTA in the Texas cloverleaf.

KENTA crawled to the ropes before having to tap out. Davey started unleashing some kicks of his own, which actually had the opposite effect on KENTA. They were going strike for strike, clothesline for clothesline before both threw big boots to the face, knocking the other down. They both go up, using big boots again to stumble the other. Davey turned it into a palm strike exchange when the big boots stopped working, ending with him getting kicked in the head and tiger suplexed for a near fall. Davey rolled onto the apron. Davey caught KENTA with an enzuguri. KENTA fired back with a big boot when he blocked Richards’ German suplex to the floor. Flacon arrow off the apron to the floor on Davey! Holy… The fans were chanting, “F*** Wrestlemania,” as KENTA rolled into the ring. Davey somehow made it into the ring at the sixteen count.

KENTA nearly kicked Davey’s head backwards after Richards spit on him. Rapid fire strikes from KENTA end in Usiku Knee for another near fall. Davey caught the knee in Go 2 Sleep, putting KENTA in the cloverleaf again. KENTA turned it into a small package, but was still unable to get the three count. Davey caught KENTA running, propelling him into the air for the Alarm Clock. KENTA somehow kicked out of the DR Driver, angering Davey. Forearm exchange ended with Davey turning a GTS attempt into a crucifix for a two count. KENTA caught Davey across his shoulders after ducking the handspring elbow, hitting an awkwardly edited GTS to retain the championship. What a match.

Davey shook hands with his former teacher before telling the crowd that this is what ROH is all about.

Jimmy Jacobs & Austin Aries vs. Tyler Black & Necro Butcher

When Jacobs and Aries refused to enter the ring due to both of their opponents being in it, Tyler Black shot over the top rope, somersaulting onto them. Black singled out Aries as Necro whipped Jacobs with one of the ROH barricade signs. Black had Aries in the crowd after a flying clothesline. Necro beat Jacobs into the front rope. The bell finally sounded when Aries pushed Black into the ring. Black dropkicked Aries off his feet after missing his first attempt at one. Black and Aries fought to the floor again, allowing Black to drop Aries face first on the side of the ring. Necro set up a table on the floor before going after Jacobs in the ring. The referee seemed confused at what to do as Black and Necro had Jimmy begging for mercy. Aries prevented Jacobs getting tossed through the table. Jacobs did the same for his partner before they had to save themselves with a pair of eye rakes. Black tried to avoid hitting the floor by springing to the top rope, but ended up in the same position as Necro, who had been pitched to the floor. Heat seeking tope by Aries on Black. Aries pitched Tyler in so Jacobs could do some damage. Aries tagged in to unleashed the dreaded nerve hold. Black elbowed his way to freedom, but Aries had Black’s legs entwined, preventing him from tagging out. Clubbing forearm from Jacobs before tagging out. Double gut-buster/STO combo from the frienemies (Lenny said it, not me). Jimmy and Aries weren’t the best of partners as they got the slugging after Aries told Jacobs to move for the power drive elbow. Black used this to his advantage, tagging out after kicking them away.

Necro was punching and kicking like the wildman that he is. Necro used that patented right hard on Aries to set up for the hurricarana off the top. Jacobs stopped the three count, but ended getting pounded down in the corner. Aries instinctively back raked Necro, only to see he has a shirt on. Big atomic drop from Necro sent Aries flying into Jacobs. Necro speared Jacobs into Aries for another two count. Jacobs kicked Necro in the balls when the referee checked on Aries, putting Necro in the End Time. Before Necro could pass out, Black stomped on Jacobs’ face. Necro choke slammed Jacobs on Aries after kicking Aries down. Black ordered Necro to put Jacobs on the table. Black ran to the top rope, but got caught by Aries, who pulled him down throat first across the top rope. Aries took Black’s spot on the top, elbowing the back of Black’s head. With Black lying on the table, Aries went up the ropes. Necro punched Aries off, throwing him on the table. And Jacobs stopped Necro before he could do anything. Necro blocked the tornado DDT through the table, as did Jacobs and the choke slam. Aries dropkicked Necro, who had a hold of Jimmy, sending both his partner and opponent off the apron. Necro crashed through the table as Jimmy hit the floor.

In the ring, Black kicked Aries in the face. Aries blocked the F5, using the shin breaker/belly to back suplex combo right after. Aries went for the dropkick in the corner but got caught on Black’s shoulders before being F5’ed. Jacobs speared Black before he could turnbuckle power bomb Aries. Aries followed up with the kick to the head of Tyler before executing the Brain Buster. Black had nothing left, giving Jacobs and Aries the victory.

Jacobs and Aries grabbed a couple of chairs for something, but Necro ran them off.

ROH World title: Nigel McGuinness (c) vs. Jerry Lynn

Nigel immediately went after Lynn’s left arm, but ended up being in that position. Lynn did everything he could to free himself from anything Nigel had in mind, going after that injured left arm. Nigel refused to break clean when they stumbled into the ropes, so Jerry furiously attacked Nigel’s left arm, ending a cross arm bar. Nigel feverishly pushed himself toward the ropes, using them to free himself before heading to the floor. Lynn whipped the arm across the barricades, causing a chase between the two. Lynn caught him, hammerlocking Nigel before sending the champ shoulder first against the steel guardrails. When Nigel got tossed into the ring, he grabbed the middle rope, pulling it toward him. Nigel let go, sending the rope into the face of Lynn. Nigel collapsed to the mat as Jerry tried to regain his eyesight. Nigel paid Lynn back by whipping him into the barricades before pushing him back in for an arm lock suplex in an impressive show of fortitude.

Nigel used his head to soften up Lynn’s left arm, as well as Lynn’s own body weight. Lynn started throwing kicks to Nigel’s arm, causing Nigel to do the same. Nigel snapped Lynn over, kicking him in the back to send the challenger scurrying into the corner. Lynn hit the ropes, shoulder blocking Nigel off his feet before doing the same with a clothesline. Tornado DDT by Lynn got him a two count. Nigel made it to the ropes before the cross arm bar could do too much damage. The champ stopped the Cradle Piledriver, kicking Lynn in the back before forearming him down in the corner. Lynn turned the Tower of London attempt into a reverse DDT, gaining a near fall. Nigel blocked whatever Lynn had in mind, executing the Tower of London. Lynn kicked out at two, causing Nigel to put him in the London Dungeon. Lynn crawled to the ropes, breaking the hold. So Nigel put Lynn on the top rope, using the Tower of London on the apron. Lynn blocked it at the last second, landing on his feet. Nigel countered before clotheslining Jerry into the ring. Nigel grabbed Lynn by the hair, using the Tower of London on the floor. Jerry somehow made it into the ring right before the twenty count from the referee. Nigel crotched Lynn on the middle of the top rope for the Lariat, but Lynn ducked it, running to the top rope. Lynn sunset bombed Nigel, converting into the London Dungeon. Oh, that’s just wrong. Nigel inched his way to the ropes, screaming out afterwards. Nigel rolled Lynn up, using the kick out to set up for the Jawbreaker Lariat. Lynn ducked it, sunset flipping Nigel again. Nigel kicked out, putting Jerry in the London Dungeon again. Jerry rolled out of it, locking Nigel in his own hold again. Nigel refused to tap out, making it to the ropes to save the title. Nigel stopped the Cradle Piledriver, going for another Tower of London. Jerry rolled off the top, cross arm barring Nigel in the middle of the ring. Nigel scooted to the ropes once again to save himself, and the title. Nigel got elbowed into the ropes, only to get hit with a Lariat instead of using one. Air raid crash by Lynn only gets him a two count. Nigel caught Lynn coming in after hitting the corner, but Lynn turned it into the Cradle Piledriver. Unfortunately for Lynn, he was too close to the ropes. Their heads collided in the middle of the ring, allowing Nigel to hit the Jawbreaker Lariat after springing off the rope. Nigel crawled on top of him. Lynn caught the arm, putting Nigel in a cross arm bar before the referee could make a count. Nigel struggled until he made it to the ropes, angering Lynn while getting the fans to chant for both men. Both men got to their feet, staring at each other before Nigel took a couple of forearms. Jerry fired back with one of his own, knocking Nigel into the ropes for another Jawbreaker Lariat attempt. Lynn caught the incoming arm, using it to turn Nigel into the Cradle Piledriver. Lynn jumps on top of Nigel, and we have a new ROH World champion!

Streamers come from the crowd as they applaud the new champion. Cary Silkin entered the ring, congratulating both men. The fans gave Lynn a “You still got it,” chant before thanking Nigel. Jerry grabbed the microphone before stating that it’s nights like this that make it all worthwhile. Lynn asked for the fans to give Nigel a standing ovation for wrestling with only two limbs. The attention turned to Nigel in the ring after Lynn left, who felt that tonight was one of those moments where time just stands still. Nigel thanked the fans for their continued support before leaving for the first time in 39 defenses without the ROH World title belt.

Is It Worth Your Money: When the announcement was made that Dragon Gate wouldn’t be a part of the show that they helped make famous, I couldn’t help but get a little worried. Then the reports came out that this show was the best thing ROH has done all year. So I actually skipped a couple of shows just to review this one to see if the people were right. And I must say I can’t disagree. The main event was an incredible sight to see when you keep in mind that Nigel was working with his biceps torn, practically wrestling with just two limbs. He and Lynn had a great match that felt like a real moment of a match. One of those matches that encompass a whole moment in ROH history. The title change just added to that. An incredible match for Nigel to close out an incredible reign. One of the matches I was looking forward to was Danielson vs. Koslov. While it was a really good match, you could feel they were holding something back to refrain from taking away too much from the rest of the show. I hope they have a rematch down the line where they can’t let it all hang loose and steal the show like I know they can. Same can be said about Strong and Nakajima I have to say the men involved in the six man tag weren’t holding back, especially with the top rope breaking so early in the match. They worked it well, and I thoroughly enjoyed their contest.

All right, enough going around the elephant in the room known as the GHC title match. ROHbots who have seen it called it the MOTY thus far, even better than Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker. Both matches had a similar feel once the bell sounded. Both matches were able to pull me in enough that I had to pause the DVD. Both matches ended at the very peak of the story. And both matches left me a little breathless. But there is a difference between the two matches outside of the scenery. The final minutes of both matches were drastically different. HBK and Taker revolved around both kicking out of finishers and big moves. While KENTA and Davey did stop some signature moves from being the end of the contest, they didn’t go into the absurdity of Michaels and Taker kicking out of moves that would end any other match. KENTA finished Davey off with one GTS, and that’s how it should be. It looked believable, and neither man looked any weaker after that performance. I can say that my MOTY has changed after seeing this match. And then there’s the rest of the card, which is as solid as you can get. I think this might be one of the easiest recommendations for a show I’ve ever done. Supercard of Honor IV is Worth Your Money.
