WWE SuperStars SuperReview: Kane Knox Mike Out, Chavo Gets To Beat Someone, and William Regal's Friends Beat Each Other Up

By the time you read this, Christmas day will have come and gone. I had a wonderful time, as usual, on the 25th which continued on the 26th too. God damn I love this time of year. Hope everybody involved with World Wrestling Insanity, from readers to writers had a fantastic festive season. On with the show!
Battle #1 – Ezekial Jackson vs. Vladimir Kozlov
Following the ever-impressive video package introduction and colourful pyrotechnics, we have a battle between these 2 ECW superstars. Once partners, the bond between Messrs Kozlov and Jackson has been broken and William Regal's faction has – in the words of Josh Matthews - “crumbled”. What I'm hoping for here is an intense brawl between these massive bulls, although I really cannot see much fan interaction nor interest. Which is unfortunate.
As fodder to continue with this feud, this match-up was pretty much perfect. It didn't last long which saved us from hearing any 'boring' chants from the audience and while it was in progress, there was quite a lot of really heavy hitting going on from both wrestlers. In the end, the action spilled to the floor where we saw a double count out. What we could be seeing here is the change in focus of the Kozlov character. Could he be turning face? It's worth the gamble as he is clearly not getting over on the heel side of the roster and needs a new dimension. Most of the fan base will forget about a performers limited ability inside of the ring if his character connects with them, I have my fingers crossed this will happen with “The Moscow Mauler”.
WINNER: Double Count Out

VIDEO PACKAGE TIME! Christian gets some hype. It's getting closer and closer to being a year since the guy returned to World Wrestling Entertainment and there's a lot of talk about him making the switch to RAW or Smackdown in the near future. The blue brand would make more sense in terms of who he could feud with (Edge? Chris Jericho?) but I really don't see the rush. We've all heard the rumours about McMahon not wanting to make him look strong due to his time in TNA but he was already established as a character in WWE before his departure. Anxious to see him in a higher profile role but I'm sure that will happen given time.
Battle #2 – Chavo Guerrero vs. Primo
By reading wrestling magazines and by talking to a lot of different fans, I've been informed that Chavo is painfully unhappy with his current role in the company. Whether this is true or not, he's managing to put a brave face on things. He strikes me as being a guy who would love to be involved in competitive matches and obviously have the talent to do so. His charisma isn't exactly lacking either. Briefly taken seriously by WWE as a potential upper-midcard act has irked a lot of his admirers. However, I really do think he has his place in the promotion. His irritating program with Hornswoggle aside (which likely even had its place due to the interest from children), he consistently takes place in good bouts when given the chance.
This was one of those good ones. The kind of match this writer would deem as being perfectly entertaining and it was nice to see that they actually encouraged from noise from the capacity crowd.
I've said it many times before and I'm not the only one, Primo and Carlito are floundering as singles performers on RAW. Put them together as a team again creative team, please. Having been fortunate enough to see them defend their Unified Tag Team titles in person at the “Wrestlemania Revenge” WWE tour of the UK this past April, I can attest that they showed way more attitude and personality as a tandem. They even reminded me of Chavo Guerrero's team with his late uncle Eddie ironically enough! Basically, as a team they were over. As separate superstars, they struggle to make an impact or garner much attention.
Nice match however here which I would happily watch week in and week out on this program. Chavo sneakily struck Primo in the throat upon the Colon brother throwing him out of the ring and capitalised by following up with his “Frogsplash” finishing move to win it.
WINNER: Chavo Guerrero

Being a self confessed fanboy of one Drew McIntyre, I was delighted to see him given some promo time inside the ring on the show. It's not just because he's a fellow countryman either, I must just see what Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon see in the guy. Give him time to hone his character and offer him more and more promo time – this dude will do nothing but improve. The “Sinister Scotsman” was out here to give everyone a little lecture and gloat over his recent Intercontinental Championship win. He was interrupted by John Morrison who announced he would get his rematch on New Years day for the belt. Morrison and McIntyre then had a fiery brawl which ended with the “Friday Night Delight” standing tall. THIS is exactly what I want to see. The Intercontinental and U.S titles almost seem to just be there, with no stories really dedicated to their defence for months at a time. Regular angles like this will add interest to the matches. I'm certainly excited to see this pair go at it again.
Battle #3 – Your Main Event & Mine – Kane vs. Mike Knox
Before I give my thoughts on the match, it simply must be pointed out how fantastic it is that there was a woman seated ringside who apparently doesn't think Mr. Knox is too hot. Her head-shaking and looking the guy up and down nearly forced me to spit my bottled water all over the keyboard. Good times. It must be the beard!
Great main event to close out this Christmas Eve edition of WWE Superstars as these guys went back and forth with hard-hitting power moves and submission holds. Knox is deceptively mobile for such a huge man and we all know Kane can jump around when the occasion requires it. This made for an entertaining grapple which came to a crashing end when Kane grabbed Mike Knox by the throat and pummelled him with a thunderous Chokeslam.
I'm actually a big fan of Knox and quite like his matches. They always keep me watching right to the end and he seems to incite a polite reception from the fans in attendance.
WINNER: Kane
That about does it for this week ladies and gents. Have a great week and I shall catch you soon for more out of this world action from the superstars of World Wrestling Entertainment!
