WWE SuperStars SuperReview: Legacy Takes on Evan and Primo, Matt Faces Dolph, and The Hurricane Rocks Ryder

Hello everyone and welcome to this week's WWE Superstars SuperReview! Last week was a bit of an off week due to not only being able to report on the matches. However, some of you actually emailed me and said you preferred it that way as the only segments on this show are video packages and the “Ask The Divas” one! Very good point you smarty-pants readers! On with the show!

Battle #1 Legacy (Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase) vs. Evan Bourne and Primo

Certainly looks like WWE are just letting the Legacy boys kill time for the moment until the inevitable clash angle with Randy Orton. Really don't have a problem with that as they're always capable of churning out really watch-able matches time and time again.

Jerry “The King” Lawler made note that we would never find a more exciting team in today's WWE than Primo and Evan Bourne. Please do not put these guys together on a permanent basis, writers! What was the point in splitting the popular Brothers Colon!?

However this one was another of my favourite “decent little TV matches” but didn't actually follow the exact same formula tag matches in the land of the 'E' usually adhere to. The baby face team didn't really seem to get going and much of the action was dominated by Legacy. There were of course a few nice passages however, which is to be expected as all 4 of these athletes are very good inside the ring. In the end-up, Cody Rhodes came from behind (ooer!) to nail (ooer!) Primo with his “Cross Rhodes” finishing move for the 1..2..3!

Y'know, Primo and Bourne would be perfect fits for a revamped Cruiserweight division. However, it seems the idea of a title for lighter and more nimble wrestlers has died in WWE. To be fair, they are still doing fine on their own. I just think Primo should never have been split from Carlito.

WINNERS: Legacy (Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase)

Battle #2 The Hurricane vs. Zack Ryder w/Rosa Mendes

Putting Miss. Mendes with Zack Ryder was a good move in this writer's opinion. It certainly makes sense as they are both heel characters with lots of arrogance and that always seems to go down nicely.

Decent wee bout here but it was all only there to set-up the debut of our masked friend who comes out and WAFFLES The Hurricane with what can only be described as being like Goldberg's old “Jackhammer” move after our resident super-hero had knocked Ryder out of the ring with his impressive “Shining Wizard” knee. Now obviously it isn't Bill Goldberg under the hood and may well be Paul Burchill (may well?). This move of course draws the DQ from our referee and therefore hands the victory to The Hurricane.

I was really hoping that Burchill would get a move back to RAW or Smackdown following his “Mask vs. Career” loss to Hurricane a few weeks back but it looks like he's here to stay in the land of Extreme for now, which isn't actually too bad of a thing. He and Helms work well together.

WINNER: The Hurricane

In Other News..

Video package (ah how I have missed thee!) for DX which does a fantastic job of going over some of the wild stuff they have been getting up to ever since their on/off return a few years ago. Have to say, when the forthcoming split does occur (presuming they are gonna go with HHH vs. Michaels at Wrestlemania), I will miss the antics of these fellas'. The parody of Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon was just priceless and they are definitely one of the most popular acts in WWE today. Fingers crossed that if they do win the tag belts from Jericho/Big Show, they will then drop them to an up and coming team and then go on their merry way to what will be a show stealer at 'Mania for sure.

Time for a RAW rebound as we take a little look back at what happened this past Monday night. John Cena stood tall as he challenged Sheamus to come take his WWE Heavyweight Title right here and right now. “The Celtic Warrior” decided to wait until the Pay-Per-View however. A new storyline thread was sowed as Carlito came literally out of nowhere and said the entire locker room felt resentment towards Cena for being the companies poster boy. He said everyone in the back wanted Sheamus to destroy Cena and take his title. Even Mickie James!? Remember that short-lived romance angle?

Battle #3 Your Main Event & Mine Matt Hardy vs. Dolph Ziggler

Both of these men don't seem to be exactly sky-rocketing towards the main event scene. There are many who felt Matt should have automatically taken Jeff's place in the land of the big pay days and Ziggler's momentum has suddenly halted. Fingers AND toes crossed the booking squad are just taking their time with Dolph while they figure out where they want to go with his character. Truthfully, I see so much potential in the guy and hope he doesn't end up as another aborted “future superstar with endless potential” just like Shelton Benjamin did. Come to think of it, both those men have pretty similar skills on the mic which may well be why they haven't been pushed seriously to the top of the cards as of yet.

Pretty long winded affair here but both Hardy and Ziggler did well with the time. Both being over mid-card performers, the pair of them know how to work a good match which will keep the crowd interested for over 10 minutes or so. Dolph picked up the victory when he pinned Matt with a backslide after a nice sequence of reversals. I like wins that come like this, it's believable and breaks up the “finishing moves end matches” thing, even though there is nothing at all wrong with that happening at all.

WINNER: Dolph Ziggler

Glad to be back on top of the show here! I like reporting on the video segments as I think it always shows you who the company has faith in or who they are trying to expose more to their fan-base. Have a great little end to the week folks and don't forget to check out this week's “Jamie Kennedy Experiment!”
