WWE SuperStars SuperReview: Shad Beats The Tyson Kidd, Sheamus Faces Tyler, and Kofi Kingston Battles The Miz
By Jamie Kennedy
Well well well, October already! Who would have thought it would come around so quick! Hello everybody and welcome to this weeks WWE Superstars report. A special thanks goes out to that dog-gone CARAZZZZZZZZZZZZY son of a lovely lady Crazy Uncle Ralph for covering for yours truly last week. Very much appreciated and he did a fantastic job. I was hoping he'd suck so my position would be secure but man, the politics in this place are just...out there.
Battle #1 – Shad w/JTG & Eve vs. Tyson Kidd w/David Hart Smith & Natalya Neidhart So far from what I've seen, anything involving Mr. Kidd is excellent inside the ring. Shad is a decent big power man so if this one gets some time, we should be in for yet another superb bout here on WWE Superstars. Smart, concise match which saw Kidd take the clever strategy of working on “The Brooklyn Beasts” legs (Gee, thanks Todd) to ground the big man and attempt to nullify his power game. This wasn't enough however as big Shad caught Tyson bounding off the ropes and nailed him out of nowhere with his “Thugnificant” finishing move for the win. Nice little side here as everytime Tyson Kidd ran the ropes on the side where JTG was standing, he raised his hands in the air and looked at the referee as if to say “I ain't doing anything!”. Little things like this can really add to a contest. Winner: Shad
Meanwhile.. · More boring “Ask the Divas” nonsense. Is there anybody out there who really needs to see anymore of these dull and pointless segments which make Mickie James and co. look like total idiots? It's not often I slag of a part of a wrestling show just for the sake of doing so but I just skip right on through these skits. TOILET BREAK! · Nice little promotional video for the WWE Hell in a Cell PPV and more specifically, the headlining bout between John Cena and Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. It'll be interesting to see what kind of match they pull out for us. Will it be long and drawn out, with minimal use of the cage or will it be brutal and shorter with lots of heavy bumps?
Battle #2 – Sheamus vs. Tyler Reks Personally, I see bright futures for both of these men. It's no secret I'm a big Sheamus fan but Mr. Reks has impressed the heck outta me ever since I first laid eyes upon his beach bum physique. And something would be amiss if I didn't let Matt Striker know YET AGAIN that I think he's one of the best things going in the land of WWE right now. Maybe someday he'll read this.. Big hand for both men as they really did a lot with the time they were given here. Nice little TV match with Sheamus picking up the victory after a sweet looking pump kick. Striker made note that the man from Ireland is a 'unique looking athlete', in reference to his pale skin colour. I think this can only help the guy as he attempts to stand out from the crowd in the 'E' and make a name for himself. Fingers and toes crossed. Winner: Sheamus
In Other News.. · Hype package for “The Legend Killer” Randy Orton. Y'know, I keep looking back at his earlier matches and he really didn't have the same comfortable look as somebody like Tyler Reks in the ring at that point in his career. It's a testament to the man that he has went on to become on of the biggest stars in the past 10 years and certainly one of the most consistent men on the roster when it comes to garnering a significant heel reaction from the people. The same could be said of Dave Batista on the other end of the spectrum I guess.
· Yet another hype job for the Cena/Orton rivalry. If they are planning on putting this feud on the shelf for a while, a Hell in a Cell bout is the ideal way to do it. Battle #3 – The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston Thank God that Kingston has a feud nowadays. The fact it includes The Miz and Jack Swagger is merely a bonus for me. Being a big supporter of all 3 of these men, I fully expect them to have a fantastic scrap at the Pay-Per-View on Sunday. Yet another good wrestling match between these two. Miz had the right gameplan of targeting a bodypart and trying to injure Kofi before their Triple Threat war at the PPV. Much like the opening match of the show, he focused on the leg of the U.S Champion. Also much like the curtain jerker, Kingston hit his “Trouble in Paradise” finisher out of the blue for the 1..2..3! Following the match, the other component in the 3-way dance for the gold made his mark felt by ambushing the title holder from behind. “The All-American American” also thwacked The Miz with his “Gutwrench Powerbomb” to assert this dominance. I can see the strap changing hands in the Triple Threat bout and I have to say, my money is on Swagger. It'd make sense to have him win and then spend a few months fending off Kofi Kingston, who would naturally win it back. Winner: Kofi Kingston
Great show which actually featured some continuation of an angle for once! I dig that. Thanks for reading and I'll catch you all next week for some more WWE Superstars!
