WWE SuperStars SuperReview: Primo Gets Swaggered, Burchill Plunders Tyler, and Santino Plays The Role of Hornswoggle

So it's been 2 weeks since I've been able to review WWE Superstars and my copy of WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2010 did eventually arrive. It was worth the wait and whereas I haven't changed Mr. Cenas attire to a girly colour” yet, I have had fun creating my own superstars and sharing them online. Must get a cheap USB keyboard for myself however, otherwise the storyline creation mode will be about as fun as it must be in real life for those writers who are SLAVE-DRIVEN to work 90 hour weeks by Vincent Kennedy McSatan himself. Yes I said it. On with the show!

Battle #1 Santino Marella vs. Chavo Guerrero

This should be a nice little comedy bout here as both Santino and Chavo are masters of working these kind of matches and entertaining a crowd. Still LOVING the uni-brow.

The trumpet celebration cements the fact that Mr. Marella gets the victory with a surprise small package as Chavo hesitated in moving the guy closer to the corner, presumably for his frogsplash finisher.

No problem whatsoever with this kind of match as it's fun to watch both for the TV viewer and the live audience!

WINNER: Santino Marella

In Other News..

It's Ask The Divas, which I again skip! BORING! Not a fan at all, which is an understatement!

Battle #2 Jack Swagger vs. Primo

No prizes for guessing who will go over here. Swagger is a potential future main event player and is on the winning streak gimmick, which is not going to be ended by Primo Colon at this precise time!

Pretty decent but short TV match which showed Primo using his superior quickness to gain an advantage in the early going but was eventually overcome due to “The All-American American's” high impact power moves. Chalk this one up in the 'W' column for Swagger as he ends thing with his big “Gut Wrench Powerbomb” for the 1...2...3! These guys actually did a hell of a lot with the time allotted to them!

Really don't understand why they split up the Primo/Carlito tag team you know. Both men were over and important as a team whereas Primo is now nothing more than 'enhancement talent' while Carlito is seemingly nowhere to be found.

RAW Rebound..

Little look back at Monday Night RAW which was hosted by none other than Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. All in all they faired very well as popular guest hosts BUT I know I can't be the only one who is mega-sick of these guest hosts mispronouncing the names of the WWE Superstars on a weekly basis. Clearly none of them (or very few of them) actually watch the shows regularly but is it really too much to ask for them to know what is actually going on and what they're supposed to be doing? Doesn't look to me like there is much time being dedicated to the little details here and it routinely hurts the matches which are announced. In saying this however, Chris Masters little 'dance' to “Crazy Train” made me giggle like the little bitch I really am.

Battle #3 Paul Burchill vs. Tyler Reks

Yet another match with an obvious winner (granted a less obvious one than the previous bout). Said it before and will say it again, I love the look of Tyler Reks and from what I've seen of him he has all the tools. Heard a lot of talk from other fans about either not knowing who he is or just finding him a bore and a snore however, which doesn't bode well for the young man from Laguna Beach!

Again both these dudes did a lot with the limited time they were given but I have a sneak feeling the match was cut short from the back due to Tyler getting bust open. Blood is a no no on regular WWE television nowadays so this writer has suspicions they had to 'go home' a little quicker than planned!

Burchill got the win via use of his “Danger Buster” finishing hold.

WINNER: Paul Burchill

Meanwhile..

·

Promo vid for Yoshi Tatsu who has done remarkably well in the land of the 'E'. His ECW Title match with Christian a while back was one of the best matches we have ever seen on that particular show. Can he keep up the momentum however? Let's hope so!

·

Another video package detailing the newly formed rivalry between “Big Angry Dave” Batista and Rey Mysterio. I'm digging this new 'monster' Batista as we have not seen the guy on the 'wrong side of the fence' for a number of years now. It's rather refreshing.

Battle #4 - Your Main Event & Mine Chris Jericho vs. Finlay

Two veterans here who predictably put on a hard-hitting, no-nonsense wrestling match. Finlay, when placed in this environment against somebody the fans care about, is dependable as hell at putting on a good bout. Meanwhile, Jericho is just all kinds of awesome.

The Belfast Brawler” is an ideal next opponent for my fellow Scot Drew McIntyre as even if McIntyre mauls him in the feud, Finlay really won't lose any overness with the fans. Great idea to pair them up and the man from Ireland can only do good things and raise the stock of his Celtic cousin.

In the end-up here tonight, Finlay is left staring at the lights when Y2J comes out of nowhere with a vicious “Codebreaker”.

WINNER: Chris Jericho

And that's a wrap! Good show tonight, which gave a lot of different superstars time to shine. Let me know your thoughts on this show or just anything else which is going on in WWE right now by whacking a quick email my way jamiekennedy@live.com Catch you next week everybody, have a great weekend!
