Matt Dawgs Has More Questions
By Matt Dawgs
By popular demand? Probably not. But it is back nonetheless. This week I will provide you with a few hypothetical questions that may or may not be based on real life scenarios in the wrestling world. Once done, I would like you to go to the message board, specifically my section of the board, and answer the questions to the best of your abilities. Sound good? Good. Let us begin then. 1. My boss is crazy. We established that in my last question column found at http://www.worldwrestlinginsanity.com/dawgs2.htm. Now recently, my boss decided to fire our play by play announcer, Tim Rost. Good ole T.R. is the best play by play man in the history of wrestling. The only problem is, he isn’t very photogenic. My boss wants someone who is handsome with movie star like features to be the voice of his shows. Who cares if T.R. only had about 5 minutes of TV face time per broadcast per show? Who cares if T.R.’s replacement, Jefferson Carman (a.k.a. The Car) isn’t half as good as T.R. My boss wanted Tim gone and he is. But instead of leaving well enough alone and letting a sleeping dog lie, he has decided to kick the man while he is down and do a distasteful, meaningless, unfunny skit which mocked T.R. Not only that, but he did the mocking while T.R. had a cancer scare in real life. Why did he do it you ask? Cause he can. That is why. Because he can and because he wanted to. No other reason was needed for my boss. Fact is, he is dead set against bringing T.R. back. T.R. isn’t coming back to feud with my boss nor is T.R. going to be on TV as a sympathetic babyface. So there was no real reason for it other than pleasing my boss and his sick sense of humor. Why does this make sense? Is this normal behavior for a 60 year old, billionaire mogul? 2. Last time I discussed my feud with archrival Ledge. Well it turns out that I got my ass handed to me by Ledge in a loser leaves “Monday Night UNCUT” match. So basically my whole “revenge” thing I had going for me is gone. I didn’t manage to get “revenge”. Instead, I got Punk’d. So now I am on UNCUT’s step sister show called “Friday Night Boredom. My whole comeback after being fired was booked to make me look like a douche and prop up Ledge. What is funny about all this though is that Ledge is now injured and may miss a significant amount of time. Rather than Ledge finally getting his main event push rather than his usual upper tier push, he might have to sit at home for a while and recover. Seems like every time my boss is ready to push Ledge to the moon, Ledge gets injured. My question to you is, Does Ledge finally get a main event push when he gets back from his latest injury or do you just decide to throw in the towel and let him stay in the upper/mid card tier for the rest of his career? WE INTERUPT THIS COLUMN TO BRING YOU A BREAKING NEWS STORY. This just in folks, sorry to break away from my questions but the following news has just come across my inbox, thanks to Keith Lipinski: “WWE.com has learned that Smackdown Superstar Christian has quit World Wrestling Entertainment. Be sure to stay tuned to WWE.com as more information becomes available.” Now to say this news comes as a shocker would be a lie. Jay Reso, known to WWE fans as Christian has all of the potential makings to be a huge star in professional wrestling. Several months back, he was a major player on RAW being featured prominently in angles involving both the RAW brand and Smackdown brand champions. He was working RAW main events against Batista while talking smack (no pun intended) on a week to week basis to Smackdown champion John Cena. After all the build up, Christian finally got his big “grudge” match with John Cena. Christian then lost. The following week, he was “drafted” to Smackdown. Upon going to Smackdown, he was super over with the fans and one night in Toronto, cut an incredible promo that made him look like a huge star to casual fans. Unfortunately WWE cut that short and proceeded to job him to Batista (who later got drafted to Smackdown), Booker T, the Mexicools and whoever else they felt like. In my opinion (JG NOTE: Fans, please note that the opinions of Matt Dawgs are HIS opinions and his alone. They do not represent the opinions of James Guttman or those of the World Wrestling Insanity staff in any way shape or form. Thus, should Matt’s editorials get him sued, we are not held liable. On the other hand, should Matt’s work here get him a Pulitzer Prize, we will all reap the benefits and glory) this is yet ANOTHER example of WWE and Johnny Ace’s short sightedness. For some reason they felt that Christian didn’t have “it”. That he was too small or lacked the mic skills to get him over. Never mind the fact that fans were just begging for him to be cheered. Never mind the fact that he had one of the hottest selling t-shirts in the company before they inexplicably stopped selling them. WWE however will still push Big Show & Heidenreich. What makes matters worse in this situation is WWE’s bullying of talent. Apparently WWE does not consider TNA a threat like they did with WCW in the peak years of wrestling. The Christian story goes that his contract expired last week. When he was presented with a new contract, one not to his liking and didn’t represent what he was worth, he was told to SIGN IT, ASAP. Christian, not wanting to be bullied into something he didn’t feel was to his benefit, said no and quit. He appeared at the Smackdown taping on Sunday evening with the intention of speaking to Vince McMahon personally to try to negotiate something between them. I have not heard if that meeting had happened as of press time but being that he quit, if it did happen, it didn’t go well. So Christian (SPOILER ALERT, SKIP TO THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED WITH THIS WEEK’S SMACKDOWN RESULTS) still did what was right for business on his way out. He worked a 4 way match featuring himself, JBL, Rey Mysterio, Matt Hardy with Bob Holly as the Special Guest Referee. WWE booked Christian to lose and lose solidly. He was hit with the 619, Twist of Fate, Clothesline from hell and the Alabama Slam by the referee for good measure. That will be Christian’s last appearance on a WWE program. He is not going to appear at the Taboo Tuesday pay per view event tomorrow night. The funny things is, even though WWE tried to low ball Christian on his new contract and have pushed him poorly in the past few months, despite his fan reaction, according to Dave Meltzer, Christian is still a professional to the fullest. He is backstage at RAW in Anaheim in case they need him to push the Taboo Tuesday angle and he has told friends that he plans on being in San Diego tomorrow for the pay per view in the event that he is voted into the Smackdown vs. RAW match. Does he have to be there? No. But he is a professional and is doing the right thing. Chances are that WWE is going explain that he is no longer a part of WWE and remove him from the ballot for the match so he doesn’t have to appear. It is a shame as Christian is a talented worker who WWE just missed the ball on completely. But……WWE’s loss is definitely TNA’s gain. Christian is the first semi-big name that TNA has the chance of picking up. Sure they had Matt Hardy but he chose to stay with WWE. With Christian, WWE is not going to be an option. I am sure he is going to TNA, especially after the way he was treated both booking wise and contract wise. My feeling on this whole situation, Johnny Ace is a dick. Plain and simple. Am I burning bridges by mentioning this? Probably so. But the fact is, Ace is f*cking clueless as to running the talent department of WWE and is out to make political allies rather than put on a good product with talented wrestlers. Does anyone else wonder why the hell each and every person who leaves World Wrestling Entertainment has nothing positive to say about that scumbag piece of sh*t? Bottom line, if you don’t believe me, check into World Wrestling Insanity this Wednesday and find out who will add to the next installment in all this. *** Matt@WorldWrestlingInsanity.com
