12/5 ECW on SciFi: Mallory’s Ongoing Coverage of the Show
By Mallory Mahling
Tonight's show was taped last night at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina. A clip of Bobby Lashley winning the ECW Championship aired, followed by a tearful Paul Heyman sniveling about the Big Show losing the championship. (If you read between the lines, chances are he was crying about a more significant loss.) Let the bodies hit the floor…
Joey Styles and Tazz welcomed viewers to the show.
Rob Van Dam took the mic and said that what had happened to Sabu at “Dismember to Dismember” was Paul Heyman’s fault.
Joey reported that a despondent Heyman had been dismissed by Mister McMahon earlier today. He didn't elaborate.
(1) Tag Team Match: Rob Van Dam & C.M. Punk vs. Test & Bob Holly. This was a rematch of the walking wounded from Sunday’s Extreme Elimination Chamber Match. Plodding and predictable at the start, Punk tagged in and brightened things up. Anaconda Vise on Holly by Punk, but it was interrupted by a stomp fest by Heyman’s Goon Squad. Sabu, with his arm in a sling, came out and made the save. A member of the Goon Squad found himself on the receiving end of an Anaconda Vise, an Arabian Face Buster, and a Five Star Frog Splash and the good guys celebrated their victory over evil.

Daivari was in the ring babbling about something, then he showed a clip of Tommy Dreamer being slammed by Khali Sunday night.
(2) Daivari vs. Tommy Dreamer. This was another rematch. Although bruised, battered, and bandaged, Tommy pulled off the win. Then Khali stalked to the ring, picked up Tommy and slammed him onto a steel chair. Ouch.

Joey announced that next week’s episode of ECW would be seen on Saturday the 16th.
Big Show cut a promo, stating that Bobby Lashley was not championship material. Show would win the belt back from him tonight.
Kelly Kelly came out with a blank look on her face. I think it was supposed to be some sort of emotion.
(3) Kelly Kelly vs. Ariel. Kelly was in the ring “emoting” as Ariel came out with Kevin Thorn. Thorn tried to intimidate Kelly and the referee kicked him out of the ring. Kelly was getting pounded by Ariel. When Ariel stopped to sass the ref, Kelly pinned her with a schoolgirl.
Mike Knox, looking contrite, came down to the ring with a bouquet of roses, got down on one knee, and apologized. He said he’d made a huge mistake Sunday night. He said he was a hot head, but he’d never leave her. He begged her to forgive him. Gullible Kelly took his hand. Then he turned nasty, and said he was sorry he’d waited so long to dump her. Knox threw the flowers at her and slammed her to the mat. Tazz chased him out of the ring and tended to Kelly. So not only is Knox a creep, he’s an abusive creep.

(4) ECW World Title Match: Big Show vs. Bobby Lashley. Big Show was twitchy and “in the zone,” as Tazz put it. Sloppy match, with moves that looked big (if you didn’t look too close). Lashley picked up Show, who fell on top of him and went for a pin.
(Commercial break)
The match had continued during the long, long break and Show was in control. Tazz kept yammering about how Lashley was the underdog. Lashley attempted to pick up Show, but Big Show reversed the suplex. Show put Lashley in an abdominal stretch, which killed a couple of more minutes of this match. Lashley came off the top rope and almost missed Show. A series of clothelines by Lashley finally took Show down. Lashley picked Show up. Sort of. Then he tried again, got better leverage (and probably a hernia), and pinned Big Show for the win. Lashley retained his title.

“December to Dismember” was crap on a stick. So what did we get this evening? Rematches. Some things just don’t bear repeating.
