2/8 TNA IMPACT: Mallory’s Ongoing Coverage of the Show

By Mallory Mahling

...

Good evening and welcome to ongoing coverage of TNA Impact. Tonight’s show was taped in Orlando, Florida. You may need to hit “refresh” from time to time to access the latest update.

Mike Tenay and Don West welcomed viewers to the show as James Mitchell and Abyss headed to the ring.

(1) Chase Stevens vs. Abyss. With Abyss in a dark mood, Stevens didn't stand a chance. The match was over in the blink of an eye. Some of Stevens' buddies came out to help him, but Abyss took out his anger on them, too.

Sting suddenly appeared on the TNA-Tron to respond to Mitchell's challenge for a Prison Yard match at "Against All Odds."

Interview Babe stood between Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe. Joe grabbed the mic and said he'd be Angle's special enforcer at the PPV and tonight he would have Angle's back; however, it would be in Angle's best interest to have Joe's back tonight.

Angle addressed Christian Cage. As for that special consultant, Angle wanted to see just who it was and what he'd taught Cage.

(Commercial break)

Tomko was angry about the way things had been going recently, and Christian Cage sweet talked him into sticking around.

Team 3D warned LAX that they intended teach them respect. Brother Ray used his own last name of LoMonica in his promo to explain why he is part redneck and part pissed-off Italian. He said LAX had brutally beaten his favorite uncle, and they wanted some good, old-fashioned Italian revenge in the form of a Little Italy Street Fight. "When you mess with the family, somebody is gonna get whacked," he warned.

LAX and Konnan (in a wheelchair) came out. "If it's a fight you want, it's a war you're gonna get," responded Konnan.

A drunken Brother Runt came out and distracted his brothers, which gave Homicide a chance to sneak into the ring and attack Runt's sober brothers. Hernandez gave Brother Ray a couple of good chair shots before he left

Christy Hemme was being interviewed about her mystery opponent at the PPV. VKM interrupted the interview and Kip Pigtails insulted Christy. (Why does a middle-aged man think he looks the least bit attractive sporting those ridiculous, childish hairdos?)

(Commercial break)

Jeremy Borash was with A.J. Styles who wasn't shy about listing his accomplishments. He dissed Angle and called Joe fat. Christian Cage walked up and said it's his show. And he does, indeed, have a consultant. Then they both made fun of Joe and Angle.

Bob Backlund walked up and stared at Borash. Not a word was said.

(2) Chris Sabin, Austin Starr & James Storm vs. Jerry Lynn, Senshi & Rhino. Raven and Seratonin were shown in the crowd. Short match and Sabin, Starr and Storm took the win after interference.

Kevin Nash was using a German accent and babbling about action figures and extreme makeovers. I'm sure it was humorous on some level.

(Commercial break)

A gullible Eric Young and Miss Brooks were making out in front of Jeremy Borash. She said she loved Eric. He believed her.

A masked Sting came out to the ring and called for a cage to be lowered. In the cage was James Mitchell. Abyss came running out, and Sting took a chair to his backside. From inside the cage, Mitchell took off his belt and was choking Sting with it.

(Commercial break)

Jeremy Borash was with A.J. Piercynski and Dale Torborg, who cut a promo for their PPV match--Team Eckstein vs. Team Piercynski. Enjoy it while it lasts, since it's almost baseball season.

(3) Christian Cage & A.J. Styles vs. Kurt Angle & Samoa Joe. Outstanding start to this match.

(Commercial break)

Back from the break and Joe and Christian were doing battle. Angle tagged in and cleaned house with trademark suplexes for all. Rhino came running out to spoil Styles' party and Angle and Joe won the match.

But then…

A hooded man hit the ring with a lead pipe and he was swinging for the fences. Who could it be? The hood and the mask came off to reveal Big Poppa Pump, Cage's consultant. Hmmm…that adds a whole new dimension to Sunday's match.

Good pre-PPV show, with lots of cliffhangers.
