Breaking News: "WWE Legends" Agrees to Part Ways With Junkyard Dog, Rick Rude, Others

We wish them well…

By Canadian Bulldog, World Wrestling Insanity News

(Stamford, CT) - Shockwaves were felt throughout the wrestling community today after WWE Legends announced that it came to terms with superstars such as The Junkyard Dog and Ravishing Rick Rude.

In addition to JYD and Rude, who achieved mainstream success in the 1980's because of their colorful characters, WWE Legends has also announced the releases of Yokozuna, Brian Pillman, Davey Boy Smith, Road Warrior Hawk and Classy Freddie Blassie.

"We wish them the best in future endeavors," WWE Legends wrote today as part of a terse statement on its website.

Rude and JYD, who last faced each other 19 years ago at WWE’s inaugural SummerSlam event, had seen their celebrity decline in recent years, partly because of changing demographics in the wrestling industry, and partly because they’ve been dead for quite some time.

According to one highly-placed source who spoke under the condition of anonymity, WWE Legends is simply doing a routine housecleaning in an effort to push some of the hungrier, younger deceased WWE superstars.

"Bah gawd, there are hosses like Eddie Guerrero and Bam Bam Bigelow who deserve to get their time in the spotlight, from where this football-loving Okie sits," explained our confidential source. "Also, I distinctly remember you saying this interview would be about my barbeque sauces."

This is not the first time WWE Legends, which licenses fallen superstars for use on T-shirts, action figures and other merchandise, has gone on a major firing spree. One only has to look back to late-2005, when they released Andre The Giant, Kerry Von Erich, Big John Studd and for some reason, Marty Jannetty.

WWE Legends always has its talent sign a ninety-day no-compete clause so that other companies have to wait a full three months before exploiting the former performers. Still, many fans are excited by the possibilities the latest shuffle may create.

"WWE Legends never used JYD right, anyways," complained longtime wrestling supporter HarleyFan875 on the Wrestling Classics message board. "Can you imagine him showing up in TNA Legends? That would be insane!"

Oh, and we almost forgot: buy JR's Family BBQ Sauce, available at fine retailers everywhere!
