THE WWE FANTASY GAME: WEEK 1 - THE REVIEW
If you’ve had the right people in your team, this has been a BIG points scoring week. Let’s see how the week of No Way Out has affect the standings!
THE CURRENT WWI FANTASY LEAGUE TOP 10!
01: A Team They Call Swish - 1286 pts
02: Torch Wood - 1285 pts
03: AJ Styles - 1231 pts
04: Millennium Men - 1224 pts
05: DJ MegaHertz - 1210 pts
06: ChristianCoalition - 1194 pts
07: ReturnOfTheNewBlack - 1182 pts
08: CMPunk4Life - 1177 pts
09: SuperJiggy - 1156 pts
10: I've GOT 2 WORDS 4 U!!!!! - 1141 pts
Only ONE point in it!!! In the overall standings, “A Team They Call Swish” is in Joint-34th place, while “Torch Wood” is in Joint-36th. Just on a personal note, “Torch Wood” were actually in 7th place overall after ECW this week, thanks in the main to Bobby Lashley.
This week’s highest scoring team goes to “AJ Styles”, whose 460 point haul this week saw them climb to third.
This Week's MVP (that Isn't necessarily Montel Vontavious Porter...)
I can do nothing but declare a three way tie this week between Bobby Lashley, John Cena and Shawn Michaels, who each scored a HUGE 85 points this week. Just to put that into perspective, the top scorer in the first week (the week that included the Royal Rumble), Great Khali, scored 76 points. However, their three sets of 85 were thanks in large part to appearing on three shows this week, with Cena & HBK wrestling on all three.
Bust Of The Week
It seems a shame to do it to him, but this week, it has to be the Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga. It’s a shame, because he was only gonna appear on one show this week, but his price of $4 million still only brought you 5 points.
Dark Horse Of The Week
Well, this week’s “Dark Horse” was such a dark horse, because he wasn’t even due to score ANY points this week at all, let alone bag his huge haul of 60! I am, of course, talking about Chavo Guerrero, who was added to the Cruiserweight Open in the middle of last week, only to win the belt last night. However, that said, I bet not many people spent $3 million on the guy, because of the aforementioned non-scheduled appearance.
Thusly, I just want to give a shout out to Little Bastard who scored you 31 points for only spending a half million dollars. That has to be the biggest single week haul for someone costing so little.
THE WWE FANTASY GAME: WEEK 2 - THE PREVIEW
From this point out, I’m really tempted to say “All Bets Are Off”, as we head to Wrestlemania 6 weeks away, given how they need every show to sell the event. A case in point would be tonight’s RAW, because the Money in The Bank Qualifying begins tonight with RAW’s Edge taking on ECW’s Rob Van Dam, in a battle of the previous winners of the match. Also, when you consider that Bobby Lashley is odds-on to be Donald Trump’s representative in that Wrestlemania match, then he could well start appearing on RAW as well as ECW, and if you were a PPV-buyer last night, you’ll have seen the RAW ad which said “The search begins tonight”. I know Zah had some options for Trump’s boy, in his ever-excellent “Shakin’ My Head” on Friday, but I have one out of left-field for Vince’s guy. Ken Kennedy. It makes sense after last night’s show, and would make for a better match then Khali would. Plus, outside of MITB, I don’t see much going on for Kennedy come ‘Mania, so this would be a great fit. I certainly think we could see him lobbying for the spot, at least.
Also set for RAW is Mickie James vs. Melina for the Women’s Title. It’s a tough call as you’d think there would be a title change to build heat for any Wrestlemania match, but then you’d think they’d have done that the last time they met a couple of weeks ago when it would have meant more. To be honest, following my “All Bets Are Off” theory, I think we could see Jillian Hall FINALLY emerge as a challenger, as a result of last night’s miraculously not-apocalyptic Diva Talent Contest.
We should also see some stuff between Cena & HBK, although I can’t say exactly what it will be at this time. The WWE are being especially vague in their RAW preview. Personally, I would wary of picking them this week, although they should be a good bet to see action.
I also have a feeling we will see the Hardyz/MNM feud begin to come to a head, so we might see Matt & Joey on RAW and/or Jeff & Nitro on Smackdown.
Speaking of Lashley & Kennedy (not a great segue, I know…), this week’s ECW preview hints at more Kennedy, as well as asking if anyone will “dare challenge for the gold”.
Also, they ponder what will happen next in the New Breed/Originals feud, but without a definite match in the preview, it’s hard to commit, but with RVD on RAW tonight, he might actually be a good bet, since he’ll likely get double points win or lose.
Meanwhile, two weeks after taking Lashley down and one week removed from doing the same to CM Punk, the ECW asks if anyone is safe from Snitsky, so I would expect him to pop up again, but not wrestle, so I’d be wary of picking him.
And who knows about Smackdown this week? Batista turned, somewhat, on Undertaker last night, so I’d expect that to be followed up (well, it is the Wrestlemania Main Event, after all!), hopefully with Batista showing a heelish edge.
The biggest news so far will be that Rey will be making an appearance this week, since SD is in the 619 area code. Also, Vicki Guerrero, at No Way Out last night, said that the “opportunity” she hinted at a few weeks ago was about to be realised but that she would be at Smackdown too to “take care of something”. I would be SHOCKED in the biggest way, if these 2 snippets weren’t connected, especially with Chavo now as CW Champion.
Something I was actually shocked by was Kendrick & London’s title retention last night over Deuce & Domino. It wouldn’t surprise me, however, if there was a rematch this Friday, although similarly to the Women’s Title feud, I don’t see why they would change the belts when they could have done it when it mattered more. I think at this juncture, if we are going to have London vs. Kendrick at Wrestlemania, it’s going to be much in the same way they did Rey vs. Eddie a couple of years ago.
As I said, Chavo is now the Cruiserweight Champion, and given how the match ran last night (and I’m not know that convinced that they cocked up in calling the match early and forgetting Chavo as it was a mistake in promoting him ahead of time), I would expect Jimmy Wang Yang to be highly involved, although Helms should also be in with a shout too. Then again, they may want him in the MITB match…
All in all, I would say that this week is a fairly tough one to call as moves are made to finalise the Wrestlemania card. No Way Out seems to have thrown up more questions than answers…
However, with that in mind, that’s all I got for this week’s picking, but I’ll be back soon enough for ECDubya. However, in lieu of complaints that last week’s little joke I signed off with last week wasn’t funny at all. So, JG has forced me to make up for it, with something good this week. Here goes…
I went to my local department store today. I asked the assistant, “Do you have any net curtains?”. She said, “No, they all have VAT on them.” I said, “But that’s gross!”…I then went to the bedding section, and said to the man who served me, “I think I’d like to buy this bed, but I’m not entirely sure.” He said, “Do you want to sleep on it?” I said, Of course I do!”…And it just got worse in the electrics department. I said to the lady, “I would like to buy a toaster”. She said “Kenwood?”, so I said, “Where is he?”
That’s the stuff! Thank you and good night…PLAY ME OFF JOHNNY!
