TNA Genesis Report
11/13/05
By Kevin Peel
We opened up the half hour pregame show
with a rundown of tonight's card and a limo was shown
pulling up outside which was apparantly the arrival
of the major acquisition signed by TNA.
(1) Shark Boy defeated Nigel McGuiness
with a small package
If you were expecting this to be a showcase
match for Nigel, um it wasn't. Shark Boy wins on the
pre-show seemingly every month and this was no exception.
Shark boy gets the small package out of nowhere for
the fluke pin. Short match and there really wasn't much
to it.
They cut backstage to a team canada interview
and shockingly D'Amore actually let the guys talk. Roode
is a good talker, Petey isn't. D'Amore made mention
of the "major acquisition" and said he wouldn't
be at ringside tonight because he thought he could lure
that person into team canada. Eric Young didn't like
hearing that since he knows the way team canada matches
work. Roode took charge of the situation and seems like
the leader of the group.
(2) The Diamonds in the Rough
defeated The Naturals and Lance Hoyt when Elix Skipper
pinned Chase Stevens after a doubleteam facebuster.
The announcers spent the entire match
talking about Steven's neck injury and the finish came
when Skipper and Young landed a double team facebuster
on Stevens and Skipper covered for the pin.
They cut backstage and showed a dressing
room door with a star above it where the "major
acquisition" was.
The main pay per view show opened with
a graphic in memory of Eddie Guerrero. When they cut
to the live crowd they were all chanting "Eddie"
and there were a few signs about Eddie in the crowd.
In the ring, the director of authority
Larry Zbyzsko was waiting for Raven. He said all their
problems were going to come to an end. He gave Raven
the choice to sign a release and take all the money
he was contractually owed or Zbyzsko would make his
life a living hell. Raven flipped him the bird. Apparantly
this is TNA's version of Austin vs. McMahon. Zbyzsko
demanded to have an answer. Raven refused to sign. Zbyszko
went on to say that he never realized how many enemies
Raven had from his past and how easy this would be.
He made reference to "the girl" in Raven's
life. Raven shoved Larry.
(3) Raven defeated P.J. Polaco
with the Raven Effect ddt
P.J. Polaco who you would probably know
as Justin Credible came out as he is the mystery opponent
for Raven. WWE owns the rights to the Justin Credible
name which is why he can't use it. These two looked
really old. There was a spot on the outside when PJ
grabbed the singapore cane but Cassidy Riley jumped
in front of Raven to protect him so PJ whacked him with
the cane instead. He then swung at Raven but only made
contact with the ringpost. Late in the match, Raven
reversed an irish whip into the raven effect ddt and
scored the pin. Awful match. Larry watched the whole
match from the top of the ramp and looked disgusted
by the finish. Raven yelled that he wanted Larry.
Backstage we are treated to a 3 Live Kru
interview. When asked about the new acquisition, BG
James said when the ship is sinking, all the rats are
going to jump off the ship. He told "V.M."
to remember women and children first. Konnan said he
still doesn't trust Kip James and never will.
(4) 3 Live Kru defeated Team Canada
when Ron Killings pinned Eric Young after a top rope
legdrop
Kip James came to the ring wearing Shawn
Michaels' shorts. Konnan gave a shoutout to Eddie Guerrero
during his prematch micwork. In this match they had
hockey sticks hanging on a pole in each of the corners.
So basically, every time someone would grab a hockey
stick, their opponent would nail them as they were coming
down with it. These two teams have been feuding for
what seems like forever and if you've seen one match
you've seen em all. The only difference is that in this
one we had Kip James counting really slow for both teams.
The finish came when 3 Live Kru got Eric Young alone
in the ring. Konnan and BG James placed a couple hockey
sticks near his balls and spread his legs so Ron Killings
could come off the top rope with a legdrop to his balls
and scored the pin. After the match, Konnan and Kip
James touched knuckles.
Backstage, Jim Mitchell and Abyss gave
a promo about their upcoming match with Sabu. Everytime
Mitchell would mention barbed wire, Abyss would shriek
in terror. This was good stuff. Mitchell said that the
reason Sabu wanted a dq match is because he discovered
teh one thing in the universe that Abyss fears, barbed
wire. He handed Abyss an egg and said this is your brain
on my weapon of mass destruction as Abyss crushed the
egg.
Back at ringside, the major acquisition
has finally made his way out. It was indeed Christian.
He came out to an entrance that completely looked like
a Y2J ripoff. It had the numbers countdown and the video
even looked similar to the original Y2J video and "Christian
Cage" appeared on the screen. Christian took the
mic and said he wanted to address the questions he's
been asked all week. He said he didn't come here to
hear the same guy say the same thing week after week.
He said he didn't come here to see a grown man pull
things out of another man's ass. He said he didn't come
to TNA because he got fired. He also said he was never
lowballed with a new contract. He said he was offered
a hefty sum to stay exactly where he was, but he came
to TNA for the same reason everyone is in the arena
and everyone in watching on pay per view, because he
loves wrestling. Mike Tenay couldn't have been more
annoying with the side comments he was throwing in.
Christian went on to say he was tired of egos and politics
and he wanted to see guys in the ring busting their
asses. He wants to see wrestling reinvented. He said
when he first broke into the business 8 years ago there
was one company that was old and stale and a company
he worked for that was cutting edge. And today he said
there is a company that is old, boring and lacking direction
and the other company is TNA. He then said he had two
things to say to Jeff Jarrett. One, you should never
wear white pants after labor day and two, the one thing
that has eluded him in his career is the world title.
He said he was going to fulfill his destiny because
"that's how I roll." Scott D'Amore and Bobby
Roode came out and D'Amore gave a really long winded
speech about how it's important to align yourself with
the right people in TNA. He handed Christian a team
canada shirt and said he wanted his answer tonight.
Christian said it was the right size, but it would take
some time to see if its the right fit.
Backstage, Shane Douglas interviews Monty
Brown who isn't pleased at the thought of Christian
jumping ahead of him in the world title contender line.
He said Christian reaks, but not from awesomeness. He
said starting tonight he's going big game hunting with
Jeff Hardy. He said the only thing Hardy or Cage would
acquire is the pooooooooooooooooooooooooounce period.
(5) Monty Brown defeated Jeff
Hardy with the poooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooounce
period.
Jeff Hardy had a bunch of green goop on
his face. Monty wiped his face on the ring ropes. These
two aren't all there. Late in the match, Hardy went
for the swanton bomb, but Brown got out of the way and
hit the poooooooooooooooooooooooounce for the win.
Backstage, Shane Douglas interviews Chris
Daniels, Alex Shelly and Roderick Strong. Daniels called
himself the captain and called his team "The Ministry."
The others were worried about where Joe was. Daniels
said he had talked to Joe already and his mind was in
the right place.
(6) Team Ministry defeated Team
Sabin in the elimination X match
The ringwork was really strong in this
one as expected. Team Ministry consisted of Chris Daniels,
Samoa Joe, Alex Shelly and Roderick Strong while Team
Sabin consisted of Chris Sabin, Matt Bentley, Sonjay
Dutt and Austin Aries. Order of elimination was as follows:
Austin Aries eliminated Roderick Strong by pinfall with
the 450 splash. Immediately following that, Aries had
a staredown with Samoa Joe and Daniels rolled him up
by the tights for a pinfall elimination. Alex Shelly
eliminated Sonjay Dutt by submission with the border
city stretch. Matt Bentley eliminated Alex Shelly by
pinfall with the superkick. Samoa Joe eliminated Matt
Bentley with the muscle buster/chokeout combination.
In the final fall, Joe had Sabin set up for the muscle
buster, but Bentley grabbed Joe's leg and pulled him
outside the ring. Daniels hit Sabin with the angel's
wings and scored the final elimination by pinfall. Daniels
and Joe are your survivors. When Joe got back in the
ring, he was upset that Daniels stole his pin. After
arguing for a while they touched knuckles. Then Joe
turned on Daniels. He knocked him to the floor and hit
him with a chair on the outside. He then gave him the
Ole kick on the outside and rolled him back in the ring
for a musclebuster. Joe threw a chair in the ring and
gave Daniels a musclebuster on the chair. Tenay said
this was the most disgusting thing in the history of
the x division. AJ Styles come out on the top of the
ramp and looked horrified. Daniels was stretchered out.
Backstage Shane Douglas interviewed Jeff
Jarrett and AMW. Jarrett reminded Christian Cage that
he is either with them or against them.
(7) Abyss defeated Sabu with the
black hole slam on a barbed wire covered chair
This was your basic TNA hardcore match
that you usually get one of every pay per view. Late
in the match, Abyss chokeslammed Sabu onto the thumbtacks
but Sabu kicked out on two. Sabu continued to wrestle
with thumbtacks stuck in his back. Abyss went for a
splash off the ropes, but Sabu moved and Abyss hit the
tacks. In the end, Abyss hit the blackhole slam on Sabu
on the chair that Sabu had brought into the ring to
score the pin.
Backstage, Shane Douglas interviewed AJ
Styles. Styles said he doesn't like Daniels but he respects
him and that Joe had broken an unwritten code in the
X Division tonight and would be dealt with.
(8) AJ Styles defeated Petey Williams
with a top rope styles clash
A1 had come out with Petey at the beginning
of the match, but got thrown out halfway through. They
did a big spot in the middle of the match where Petey
gave AJ a release german suplex off the ring apron into
the railing. Late in the match, Samoa Joe came out at
the top of the ramp to watch. AJ climbed to the top
but was distracted by Joe, which allowed Petey to catch
AJ and go for a superplex attempt. AJ reversed him into
position for the styles clash and looked directly at
Joe before executing the top rope styles clash for the
pin.
Backstage, Shane Douglas interviewed Rhino
and Team 3D who all have revenge on their mind. They
closed out the interview giving a shoutout to Eddie
Guerrero and all three had Eddie on their wrist tape.
(9) Rhino and Team 3D defeated
Jeff Jarrett and AMW when D-Von pinned James Storm after
the 3D.
Jarrett and AMW all went to different
parts of the arena and Rhino and Team 3D went after
them to brawl in the crowd. Later, Devon busted open
Harris with the ring bell and Bubba broke out the cheese
grater and busted James Storm open. Rhino gave Jarrett
a piledriver at the top of the ramp. Rhino had set up
a table earlier and went for the gore, but Storm superkicked
him. Later, Jarrett hit the stroke on Bubba but he kicked
out at two. Rhino gored Jarrett, but Storm pulled the
ref out so he couldn't count. Eventually, Team 3D hit
the 3D on Storm for the pin. After the match, Team 3D
teased putting Gail Kim through a table, but team canada
broke it up. The heels worked over Team 3D and Rhino.
The Christian Cage music hit and he came down. He took
off his hoodie to reveal the team canada shirt. He first
shook hands with D'Amore then gave him the unprettier.
Christian and Team 3D gave Jarrett a 3D through the
table. He took off the team canada shirt to reveal a
tna shirt underneath.
OVERALL
I'd say four good matches tonight. The
main event was a good brawl and the Christian thing
was a cool ending. AJ and Petey had another good X title
match which was to be expected. Abyss and Sabu was a
good hardcore match although they get to be the same
thing every month. Mitchell's micwork adds alot to Abyss'
act. And the elimination x was probably the match of
the night for me with a great angle that followed it.
