NO MERCY '06

Sunday, October 8th 2006

in Raleigh, North Carolina at the RBC Center

- Commentary by Michael Cole & JBL

- They opened up with a clip previewing the Fatal 4 Way match. Cole & JBL welcomed us to the show and they introduced Hugo & Carlos, the spanish announce team as usual.

1) Matt Hardy beat WWE Cruiserweight champion, Gregory Helms at 13:07 with a Twist Of Fate in a non-title match.

They replayed shots of their feud before the match. They are 1/1 in recent singles match on TV. The announcers pushed hard that Helms hasn't been beaten on PPV this year and that he is the longest reigning champion in WWE right now. They are both in front of their home crowd, but babyface Hardy is being cheered way more than Helms. At 7:20 Hardy hit a nasty Slop Drop on Helms who seemed legit hurt for a moment. At 8:55 Hardy got a 2 count after his 2nd rope Legdrop. Helms then countered a Twist Of Fate for a 2 count also. He hit one of his finishers 3 times in a row and then got to the top rope but Hardy countered. They are exchanging big moves for 2 counts now. At 11:00 Helms lifted his knees on a Hardy Moonsault. At 11:30 Hardy kicked out after a Shining Wizard. Big move after big move for mild pops. At 12:13 Hardy got crotched, Helms hit a top rope Shining Wizard and Hardy put his foot in the ropes. Hardy hit the Twist Of Fate out of nowhere for the win at 13:07. The crowd is ok, nothing exceptional. JBL oversold the match as if we had just seen a 5 star match. Far from it.

- King Booker, with Sharmell, required the help of Sir William Regal for his match tonight. He told him to convince Finlay to step aside for the match and help him out to keep his title. Regal said he could count on him. Booker doesn't have an english accent anymore.

2) WWE Tag Team champions, Paul London & Brian Kendrick (with Ashley) beat KC James & Idol Stevens (with Michelle McCool) at 9:36 when Kendrick pinned KC James.

At 2:20 London & Kendrick hit a stereo flip dive over the top rope for a small pop. It was an amazing visual but no one cared. They are a fun team but are just "there". James & Stevens reek of indy wrestling, their name, tights, look, maneurisms and style. The heels controled the middle of the match beating on London. Kendrick got hot-tagged at 6:45. James countered a Sliced Bread #2 and hit a Superplex on Kendrick for a 2 count. McCool interfered a couple of times and almost lost her top, her bra tape was clearly visible. Ashley attacked her. Kendrick hit the Sliced Bread #2, followed by a Shooting Star Press from London and Kendrick then covered James for the win at 9:36. JBL insisted that the SSP was called a "Northern Lights". Why ? Who knows. Good house show match, nice finish, but hurt by an average crowd.

- They aired a preview for "The Marine" which comes out next friday in the US.

- William Regal looked for Finlay in the back. He asked some guy "Have you seen Finlay? .. Irish fellow, smells of Guinness." Regal ran into Vito who was jumping rope in his dress. Regal tried to jump rope himself but was soon disgusted by Vito's thong. He left and fell into a hamburger cart. He was covered in buns, ketchup and mustard. He swam in the mess for ever as the camera would never cut.

- A commercial for the Raw season Premiere aired.

- SD GM Teddy Long came to the ring to wish The Miz a happy 26th birthday. There was a huge present in the ring and a cake. You know where this is going. Miz came to the ring and Hoora'd like a madman. Teddy revealed that the Miz had been hitting on Layla a lot backstage but that she hasn't been very receptive. Layla came out and asked for a chair. She sat The Miz and started giving him a lap dance, seems like a cool bday present. Layla put a blindfold on Miz who was going crazy. She opened up the huge present and of course out came the fat stripper. He danced for Miz while Layla was laughing. Miz realized he wasn't Layla when feeling him up, he fell frm his chair and left disgusted. Layla and the stripper danced in the ring. Skit was lame, but they all polayed their role well, Miz was great, as usual.

- They plugged this month's WWE Fanatic Series : "McMahon."

- They plugged tuesday's strip poker on ECW.

- MVP came out in his blinged-up tights. Bright blue bodysuit with shiny silver designs. He took the mike and asked who his opponent was. The crowd chanted "Power Ranger" at him. Jobber Marty Garner came out.

3) Montel Vontavious Porter beat Marty Garner in 2:30 with Elix Skipper's "Play Of The Day".

MVP was very cocky during the match. Standard squash match.

- Regal probably won a bet since he showed his c**k on camera. First time ever on WWE TV it seems. He came out of the shower and was met up by Vito who made fun of his tiny package. Regal though was amazed by Vito's donkey-like penis. Regal left the locker room almost naked, he showed his ass, people laughed. He crossed path with Teddy Long in the back who told him to get dressed for an unscheduled match. Comedy!

- They plugged WM 23.

- They aired a promo package for the Undertaker/Kennedy match.

4) WWE US champion, Mr. Kennedy beat The Undertaker by DQ. in 20:34 when Taker hit him with the US belt.

Kennedy did his usual spiel before the match. Taker tried his Old School early, and Kennedy pulled him by the arm as is done in every Taker match for the past 10 years. Cole & JBL acted as if that was never been done before, and Cole actually said "I can't recall when I saw that before". Ugh. At 14:10 Kennedy hit a Piledriver, but Taker sat up. Once again, JBL & Cole had "never seen that before". Really pathetic. Kennedy tried a ton of new moves (Face Wash, Enziguiri etc ...) but Taker countered it all. At 19:05 Kennedy rammed Taker in the exposed turnbuckle and followed with a Clothesline and a Ken-Ton Bomb, but Taker kicked out again. Kennedy tried to use his belt but the referee took it from him. Taker took the belt and KO'ed Kennedy with it in front of the ref. He got DQ'ed at 20:24.He tried to Chokeslam the ref, but Kennedy attacked him and got Tombstoned for his effort. Taker then came back and Tombstoned the ref for no reason. Bad. Bad. Bad.

- They aired a commercial for Cyber Sunday. This is the most promo-heavy PPV of all time as it is so empty of actual action.

- They played a promo package for the whole Chavo/Rey feud.

5) Rey Mysterio beat Chavo Guerrero (with Vicky Guerrero) at 12:11 with a CrossBody Block in a Falls Count Anywhere match.

Chavo hit Rey on his black "EG" armband while screaming "this is not your uncle, this is not your family!". Classy. They fought near the entranceway early and then around the crowd. Chavo swung Rey in some shairs and in the barricade in a very cool move. Chavo's hair restoration is working very well. Chavo continued his attack on Rey up in the stands. They basically fought in the crowd for 7 minutes giving us some nice and original camera work for WWE where everything usually looks alike. At 12:11 Rey won out of nowhere in the middle of the crowd with a Crossbody Block.

- They aired a clip on the premiere of "The Marine".

6) Chris Benoit beat Sir William Regal at 11:16 by submission on the Crippler Crossface.

Benoit made his surprise return to a good pop. They said it was his first match in 5 months. Nice swerve since everyone thought it was going to be Vito. Nice matwork to start off but the crowd is quiet. At 4:30 Regal started bleeding from the forehead from a legit headbutt that made a sick sound. Crowd is only getting into it in short spurts. At 9:50 Regal hit the Surfboard on Benoit and at 11:16 Regal tapped out to the Crossface out of nowhere.

- King Booker screamed at William Regal for not having found Finlay. Finlay came out and said that he's here for 2 things : to fight and win the title. Booker blamed Regal for all of this. He called him pathetic and useless and then slapped him. Regal punched Booker and left. The King was outraged.

- They plugged the Raw Reunion again.

- They aired a clip previewing the main event.

- Batista came to see Lashley in the back and reminded him that the name of the PPV is "No Mercy".

7) World champion, King Booker (with Sharmell) beat Lashley, Batista & Finlay in a Fatal 4-Way match at 16:53 when he pinned Finlay.

Lashley was taken out quick and Finlay & Booker double teamed Batista for a while. Finlay was the first to turn on his "ally" Booker. Lashley came back at around 7:00. At 10:15 the Little Bastard came out and low blowed Lashley. At 11:55 Batista hit a Jackhammer on Booker and Lashley & Batista were left in a face off. Batista Speared Lashley but he kicked out. Batista started bleeding bad from the head and no one really saw how he did it. The ref even checked on him and they stalled for 20 seconds. Booker came back and hit a Book End on Lashley but once again only a 2 count. Batista Spine Bustered everyone in sight and the crowd popped. He Powerbombed Finlay, Lashley Speared him and Booker stole the pinfall by pinning Finlay at 16:53.
