1/4 TNA Impact on Spike TV: Mallory’s Ongoing Coverage of the Show

Tonight's show was taped at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
Last week Kurt Angle had coerced Samoa Joe into giving him a rematch.
As the show started, Samoa Joe was in mid-rant at James Cornette. Joe desperately wanted to get his hands on Angle for a little revenge.
Mike Tenay and Don West welcomed viewers to the show.
(1) Rhino vs. Robert Roode (w/Miss Brooks). Roode sent Miss Brooks to the back, presumably to do more recruiting of Eric Young. As the match got underway, Tenay talked about the history between Rhino and A.J. Styles. Good back and forth action, then Our Miss Brooks ran out with her hair mussed up to give Roode a wink and a message. It distracted him long enough for Rhino to make the winning pin.
Roode was furious at Miss Brooks and the two argued. Meanwhile, A.J. Styles ran out and attacked Rhino. Roode joined in the beatdown and urged Styles to finish Rhino off, which he did.
Jeremy Borash was backstage when Eric Young ran up with a hypothetical question for Borash about the opposite sex. Miss Brooks coyly walked up and asked Young if he’d gotten what they’d discussed. He blushed. Hmmm…the plot thickens.

Borash was in Joe’s locker room. Joe was still seething about Angle and the fact that Angle had hurt Joe’s girlfriend. He said he’d been told to leave the building tonight, but he’d do it after his job was done.
Voodoo Kin Mafia (The James Boys) headed out to the ring in Mexican hats and serapes. BG berated the real VKM for not responding to their Million Dollar Challenge. BG noted their previous efforts had not fallen on deaf ears, since Paul Levesque *wink, wink* had taken notice of them and given them a half-hearted wave at a house show. Their focus tonight was Michael Hickenbottom. Apparently the Mexican outfits were for their next challenge--San Antonio, Texas…The Alamo…next Wednesday at high noon. Will HBK…err…Michael Hickenbottom be there…or will he be square? (Just a tip...don't hold your breath unless your best color is blue.)
In this week’s Paparazzi Championship Series competition, Kevin Nash was singing spirituals while the team trained. Don’t ask…

Jeremy Borash interviewed Gail Kim about the breakup of America’s Most Wanted. She said she had no explanation for what had happened. James Storm and his trusty beer bottle came out and he pulled up a chair so he could put in his two cents. He stood up and pulled Borash out of camera range and told Gail Kim he was giving her seven days to make her decision. And he wasn’t very polite about it.
(2) Lucha Callejera: Homicide vs. Brother Runt. Brother Runt didn’t even wait for the introductions before he went after Homicide. Homicide back body-dropped Runt on the ramp and clobbered him with a ladder.
The announcers said they’d just gotten word that Team 3-D had accepted the challenge of LAX to meet in the ring at Final Resolution.
Back in the ring, Homicide pinned Brother Runt to win the match. The other members of LAX started beat on Runt after the match, but his brothers hit the ring and chased them away.
Jerry Lynn, Chris Sabin and Christopher Daniels all seem to have issues which will, of course, be settled in the ring.

Video was shown of James Mitchell forcing Abyss to return to the stark prison that haunts him. Abyss was a tortured soul as Mitchell screamed at him outside the barbed wire fence. Mitchell threatened to reveal Abyss’s secret, but before he could say any more, Abyss grabbed Mitchell around the neck and started choking him.
It was time for the main event. After Christian Cage made his entrance, James Cornette appeared on the TNA Tron. He stated that Tomko was to be barred from ringside for the next match.
Kurt Angle started his entrance but didn’t get very far. Samoa Joe ran out and caught up with Angle. The two beat, choked and slammed each other into heavy objects while Cage and Tomko watched with big smiles on their faces. Angle and Joe brawled in the crowd.

During the commercial, the fight had continued. Security had tried to break them up to no avail. Cornette came out and said if they wanted to fight that bad, it could continue and he ordered security to protect the fans.
A camera followed them outside, where Angle hit Joe with a steel chair, then went for an ankle lock. Joe hit Angle with the chair, then rammed him into a door. Angle put Joe’s injured leg in an ankle lock. Joe escaped and slammed Angle’s skull into a wall. The audience had followed them outside, chanting for Joe. Joe sunk his teeth into Angle’s bald head. As the show went to commercial, Joe introduced Angle to the cold, hard cement.
(Commercial break)
Back from the break, Angle was in the ring and Cornette was trying to calm him down. Angle was like a wild bull and the brawl was back on with security scrambling to keep some semblance of order.
Cornette finally granted Angle and Samoa Joe their rubber match. It would be a 30-minute iron man match at Final Resolution.
(3) Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage. This match finally got underway with two minutes left in the show. Cage and Tomko were trying to wear out Angle when the lights went out. Who should appear in the ring when the lights came back on but Sting. Cage and Tomko got out of Dodge, while Sting and Angle remained in the ring. Are they aligned?
* * *
Good show. The matches were short, but meaningful. The storylines going into Final Resolution are building to all-out feuds. Goodness knows where the VKM thing is going, but maybe its purpose is just to needle the competition.
