Hi Guys! Aaron here! Just bringing you up to speed here. I have been experiencing some technical difficulties, but I'm a trooper, so I'll presevere!!!
THE PRESHOW!
1. VKM def. Christy Hemme's team in a "How bad are things when you can't get The Bashams in???" match
It is Serotonin this month! one bunch of rebuffering later, I catch that VKM won the match.
Backstage, Leticia is with some of the faces who are pissed off that they are with Jarrett. None of them seem sure about trusting Jeff.
Back in the arena, which looks pretty good, as Christy and Serotonin stand in the ring. Raven comes out and the jobber clan ready for a caning. Christy is in Christy's grill. Raven grabbed Christy and Serotonin grab her. Kaz steps in the way of Raven. Christy escapes, and Kaz sets himself for, and takes, a caning instead. How very noble.
Check back just before PPV time in about 10 minutes for live PPV goodness!
BREAKING NEWS!!! Cornette and Angle are shouting the odds about Cornette being forced to reverse "a decision", and now Team Cage has the numbers advantage instead of Team Angle!!!
THE PPV!!!
Dave Sahadi does his usual good work with a video based around prisons as a metaphor for cages. Lots of blood and high-spots. Let's hope those come to pass...
Leticia is with Jay Lethal doing the Savage gimmick. Yeah... Lethal promises to win the match. He better get it for doing this...
1. The Xscape Match - Chris Sabin vs. Jay Lethal vs. Shark Boy vs. Alex Shelly vs. Sonjay Dutt - X Title on the line
Lethal comes down with Nash, wearing a Cardinals shirt. Dutt must be sad that Nash chose Lethal...
I'll try to keep up...
Sabin & Dutt start this one. Sonjay uses his speed to work in a headscissors, before locking an armbar. Dutt DDT'ed Sabin greatly for 2. Crowd looks good tonight! Sonjay is placed on the rope and Sabin goes up, but Shark Boy tags himself in to get a 2 count on Sabin. Sharky hits a couple of knees to the face, but Sabin tags in Shelley. Shark boy with a neckbreaker for 2. Shelley misses a charge and hits a rana. Missile dropkick on Shelley gets 2. Sabin cheap shots Shark Boy. Shelley becomes a bitch for Shark Boy & Sabin in the corner. Shark Boy gets some punches before hitting a backbreaker. Shelley reverses a DDt attempt, into one of his own, and Sabin & Shelley double team Shark Boy for the elimination.
Lethal came in with a Double Axe Handle, as the crowd chant for Jay and Alex Shelley. Lethal gets a low dropkick for 2. Sabin helps Shelley out when Lethal goes up top, and Shelley hits a jawbreaker, before thumping Sonjay Dutt. Sabin is tagged in and hits the Garvi...Orto...Sabin Stomp. The heels work together on Lethal.
The heels miscommmunicated, are nailed with a crossbody by Dutt, but they hit a double team for 2. Lethal comes in and flying the right hands in. Lethal hit a headscissors, but Sabin & Shelley continued their teamwork for a 2 count. Dutt comes in and uses his quickness to avoid the heels, before headscissoring one and moonsaulting on Shelley for a VERY near 3 count.
Shelley puts a crossface on Dutt and Sabin locks in a abdominal stretch, but noth moves are reversed at the same time. No one gives up though. Sabin & Shelley work together with a great pair of kicks on Lethal. Sabin hits the CradleShock on Dutt to eliminate him.
The heels continue to work over Lethal, but he double clotheslines them. A pair of Lethal Combos see Jay go up top. He hits the diving elbow on Shelley for another elimination!
Now it's the first person to escape the cage, which is made up of wire, due to the electric cage match. Lethal tires climbing about is caught. it's a foot race up and over. Lethal got caught up in the cage and Sabin dropped for the win!
WINNER & STILL X CHAMPION - CHRIS SABIN!
Team Cage are celebrating the fact they now have the numbers advantage. Christian said everyone (but Abyss) was family. Abyss gets pissy, but Mitchell forces him down. Cge pointed out Angle's bunch arrived separately. Christian speculated Jarrett deliberately used the guitar knowing the advantage would be reversed. He said it was like Christmas. Borash tries to ask about the upcoming Title shot, but Christian calls it a moot point. Steiner complains that it's nowhere near Christmas. Suddenly the rest of the team argue about who picks up the win. Mitchell says that if Abyss doesn't get the win, Abyss's mommy goes to prison...
We see a full recap of the Young/Roode situation...
2. PETEY WILLIAMS vs. ROBERT ROODE (w/ Traci Brooks & Eric Young)
Petey is out first, followed by Roode. And Traci looks HOT HOT HOT~!~!~!~!~!~!~! Roode shouts at Young that no friends can save him, before forcing him to sit in a chair.
Petey pulls Roode in. Rana by Williams followed up by stomps in the corner. Petey almost botched a double knee facebuster. Williams puts Roode in the tree of woe, before placing a sole on Roode's nuts. Roode drops Williams on the ropes to get the advantage. Williams is choked on the ropes, as Eric looks miserable.
Roode chops Williams in the corner before clotheslining Petey in the other. Willaims get a pair of boots to stop a charge, but Roode hit a wicked clothesline as Williams came out the corner. Stomp to the face and Roode tries to get booed. Scoop slam is followed by a knee drop from the middle rope for a pair of 2 counts.
Petey tired to fight back from his knees, but it didn't work and got a backdrop suplex for his troubles. Roode went to a chinlock Williams got out of it as a slugfest began. William rolled through for 2, but Roode stayed in control. Williams' head was rammed into the door, before hitting a big uranage. Traci tried passing a Roode a hockey stick, but Young stopped him.
Williams hit a rana for 2. William hit another move (the cameras were on Eric at the time) for 2. Roode hit a big time spinebuster for a close 2. Again, it's all about ringside as the heels demand Roode get's the stick. Williams hit a spiking DDT for 2. Williams called for the hockey stick, and Eric passed it to him, after throwing down Traci. Williams took it to Roode, but Earl hebner grabbed the stick and got rid of it. Williams rolled Roode up for 2. Roode was sent into the cage door. Williams called for the Destoryer, but Roode countered and hit the Pay Off for the three count!
WINNER - ROBERT ROODE!
Eric looked crestfallen, as Roode & Traci taunted him.
Leticia was with Angle, who walked up to Rhino. Angle said he was changing the entrance order. Rhino told Kurt that he'd better tell Joe...
We get a recap of Gail Kim & Jackie Moore's feud.
3. GAIL KIM vs. JACKIE MOORE
The rules are standard cage rules for this. I wouldn't have mentioned it, only they made a point to mention it here... Indeed, for some reason, when Tenay mentioned the rules, he basically said that they were pretty unique... Hmmm...
They brawl on the outside to start, especially by Tenay & West. Jackie uses Tenay's water to soak her. Jackie uses So Cal Val as a shield but to no avail. They eventually get in the cage. Kim whipped off a headscissors and a dropkick. Gail, seconds after demanding the door be closed, tried to leave through it.
Jackie dropped Kim on the ropes. Jackie hit a Release German (although the camera was shooting the crowd) but Gail powered back. However, Jackie countered Gial down, before choking Gail on the top rope. ackie climbed up, but was caught. Gail went up and tired a sunset flip, but it was reversed, only to be reversed again. Jackie locked in a chinlock. The women both hit the turnbuckle/ropes/cage. They got back up and slugged it out. Kim with a clothesline and a scoop slam. Kim went up top and hit a missile dropkick for 2 as West pondered if Jackie's breasts provided a cushion. Not in so many words, but it's what he meant. They fought by the opened door, but Kim used the door to slam it in ackie's face. Kim didn't take the chance to escape throught the door, climbed up to the top of the cage and hit a crossbody for the three!!!
WINNER - GAIL KIM
JB was with Bob Backlund. Backlund mumbled about somehting being effervescent and synergistic. JB never got an answer from the certifiable one...
4. (Special Referee: Bob Backlund) SENSHI vs. THE AUSTIN STARR
Backlund checked Starr for weapons and they claimed Backlund did Senshi earlier, but it would have to have been on the pre show. Tenay & West babble on about Backlund and his rambling, especially as West tried to ask him about his past work in St. Louis.
Starr took control after a break at the ropes, but Senshi used speed to take over. Senshi stalked Starr around the ring, chopping him in each corner. Backlund tried to back Senshi up, but Senshi's determination to get at Starr cost him. Senshi was placed on the ropes, where Starr hit a back rake, before hitting a back suplex, as Backlund is fast counting for both guys. Backlund back Starr off of Senshi while he was choking the Warrior in the corner. Senshi fought back, but Satrr downed him and hit the pendulum elbow for 2.
Starr stalked Senshi, looking for the CFCW, but couldn't get it on. He did get a powerbomb instead though for 2, before floating over into a Single Leg Boston crab. Senshi made the ropes, and then though he was pulled off, backlund made Starr release the hold. Senshi hit a couple of forearms and then a couple of kicks before hitting a spingboard kick. Senshi sent Starr, back-first, into the cage door before hitting the capo kick for 2. Senshi was sent into the cage door. Senshi reversed a suplex, but was dumped in the corner, where Starr hit a dropkick. Starr used the ropes in a pin, which Backlund caught.
Senshi hit a running dropkick before going up top. Backlund threw Backlund into the ropes. Starr went up and Starr hit the 450 splash for a pair of 2 counts! Starr ripped off the bow tie. as they argued, allowing Senshi to roll Starr up for the win!
WINNER - SENSHI
JB was with Joe, with a statement he wanted to make on Jarrett. He raged at Angle about not being around when Joe wanted to know who the fifth guy was. Joe said it was obvious what Jarrett was up to, and that he and Jeff would NEVER get along, and BEGGED Jarrett to cross the line; even threatening death. Man, Joe is full of piss and vinegar tonight!
We see a recap of the AMW feud.
5. CHRIS HARRIS vs. JAMES STORM (Blindfold match)
Harris comes out dressed in white and still wearing the eye patch. Both men eventually put the hoods on and tried to find their space. Storm felt someone, but it was Rudy Charles. They almost touch (well, they do touch, but don't sell it) as they wander aimlessly around. When they do touch and swing a punch, both miss. A "We Want Wrestling" chants gets going, as they finally look like they're locking up, but Storm sped away so they don't know where they are anymore.
Harris turned to the crowd, and they lead him to Storm. Harris gets some punches in, but Storm gets away. Harris stopped a whip and hit Storm with such a vicious shot, the hood came off, as a loud "Boring" chant got going. The ref put it back on before Storm got any advantage.
Storm raked Harris's eyes and the hood AGAIN came off. Storm was able to hit a move out of the corner for 2. Storm got hold of Harris and climbed the ropes. Harris kicked his way out of it, but storm reeled him back in. Harris hit a neckbreaker, for 2, but it created more separation. Storm tired climbing the cage. Harris miraculously managed to figure out exactly where Storm was without any crowd help at all. They fought on the top rope. Harris speared Storm down as Storm's mask came off AGAIN! And again, Charles put it back on.
Harris hit a Full Nelson slam was Harris's hood came off this time. Even the X in the Ultimate X matches wasn't this bad. Harris grabbed a body, and put the sharpshooter on him. But it was the ref. Harris relaised it was the ref, but it allowed Storm to take the hood off and superkick Harris for the win.
WINNER - JAMES STORM
Leticia was with Kurt, who was with Sting. Angle begged Sting to trust Jarrett, and Sting was just about willing to believe, giving him the benfit of the doubt for the night at least.
We see the "rebirth" of Christopher Daniels.
6. JERRY LYNN vs. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS
Lynn gets this one started quick, working over Daniels in some of the corners. Both men stopped the other sending them into the cage. Lynn hit a nice backbreaker for 2. Lynn hit a Thesz press with punches. He followed that up with a back drop. Lynn headscissored Dnaiels between the ropes and the cage, where Lyn dropkicked him. However, Daniels came back and used something akin to the Elijah Express, before punching away of Lynn on the mat.
Daniels worked over Lynn's arm before raking the face. Daniels then worked a nice hold. Lynn made a comeback with a Victory roll for 2. He followed with a headscissors, but ran into a dropkick. Daniels sent Lynn into the cage door. Daniels ripped some electircal cable from a camera and started choking away with it. Backdrop suplex before hitting a moonsault for 2. Daniels locked in an abdominal stretch, but it wasn't on for long. Daniels stayed on offense though putting Lynn on the turnbuckle.
Lynn blocked Daniels's move, and snuck under Daniels and hit the sunset flip powerbomb. Lynn built momentum with a spinning back elbow and a ram into the cage. Lynn mounted in the corner, landing 6 or so on Daniels. Lynn hit a float-over DDT for 2. Daniels elevated Lynn into the cage wall. Both men slugged away and Lynn went for the piledirver, but it was blocked. Daniels went for the BME, but that missed. Lynn hit the TKO but it only got 2. They both went up top. Daneils rammed the back of Lynn head into the corner post of the cage and dropped Lynn back down. But Daniels only got a 2 count.
Lynn hit something akin to the Celtic Cross, but it only got 2. Lynn missed a charge, as Daniels climbed. Daniels tried to get the Angel's Wings. Lynn then tried for the Cradle Piledriver. Daniels crotched Lynn. Daniels hit the Last rites for the three.
WINNER - CHRISTOPHER DANIELS
Bubba & D-Von interview.
Leticia was with LAX. Konnan cut a good promo on Team 3D saying they weren't on LAX's level anymore.
7. ELECTRIC CAGE MATCH FOR THE NWA TAG TITLES - LAX vs. TEAM 3D
Tenay talked about "The St. Louis Curse", mentioning that the NWA World title has changed hands 16 times in St. Louis, but the tag belts had never changed hands in the city. Interesting...
Konnan was rather conspicuous by his absence. They did the "Main event" introductions. Hebner got booed when intorduced. Team 3D got something of a mixed/dull reaction, but LAX definately got booed. Also, they've changed the lighting to a tight blue on the ring. They turned on the juice, which caused a lighting cue.
T3D starts out hot. West astutely points out the boot LAX are both wearing and the gloves Hernandez has. D-Von & Bubba slingshot suplexed Hernandez against the cage door. They remained in control. D-Von went up for the Wassup, but Hernandez threw D-Von off. Homicide tored to push Bubba into the cage, but Bubba bit on Homicide's arm. Bubba manged to get Homicide to touch the cage. Buba got his hands on a chain that LAX had as we saw blood pour from D-Von's head. LAX went to work on D-Von with Homicide hitting the knee to the back of the head. They then double back dropped Bubba. We saw Hernandez had been bloodied, as he went up top. T3D caught both LAX-ers on top and suplexed them off the top. D-Von came off the ropes and hit a forearm on Homicide, as Tenay noticed that Konnan was being brought to the ring.
The guy who wheeled Konnan down, clubbed the outside referee down and got the gloves and key to the door. Hector Guerrero got involved and made sure no cheating went down. Hector opened the door and Bubba ordered Hector to get a "fu*king table". Hector slid one in for T3D, but Hernandez clubbed the good guys down. Hernandez jaw jacked with Guerrero, but he got the door slammed in his face. Homicide downed D-Von, but ran into a Full Nelson bomb. Hernandez dropped Bubba for 2, before hitting a Scoop slam on D-Von as Homicide came off the ropes for 2. Bubba hit a big running powerbomb for a very near 2 count. Hernandez clotheslined Bubba for 2.
Hernandez then hit the Border Toss on D-Von...onto the electric cage. The lights flashed off and on to sell it. Bubba went up top and dropped an elbow for 2 as a "Fire Russo" chant started again. Bubba got Homicide on his shoulders and D-Von hit the clothesline for 2. Hernandez powered the faces down though, and went about setting up the table. Hernandez put D-Von on the table, and put some gloves on. He went up to the top of the cage, but he MISSED the splash, as D-Von managed to get out of the way!!!
Homicide snapped off a headscissors on Bubba, but was sent into the cage by D-Von. They then hit the 3D FOR THE WIN!!!!!
THE WINNERS AND NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS - TEAM 3D!!!
JB was with Angle, and asked if he called Jarrett out of desperation. Angle said his job was to get the best guys he could, and he said that he knew Jarrett wouldn't screw them, because Jarrett wouldn't want to be on Angle's hit list.
We saw a video covering the ethos and coming together of the Lethal Lockdown match.
8. Winner gets the next title shot: TEAM CAGE (CHRISTIAN CAGE, TOMKO, ABYSS, SCOTT STEINER & AJ STYLES) vs. TEAM ANGLE (KURT ANGLE, JEFF JARRETT, STING, RHINO & SAMOA JOE)
Borash introduced "the keeper of the key", Harley Race. The first period is 5 minutes with guys coing in every 2 minutes.
The first guy out for Team Cage is...AJ!
The first guy for Angle's team...KURT HIMSELF!
West talked about the strategy about them picking those who they felt could go the longest distance first. Angle? The one able to last longest for his team???
Angle took AJ down with some mat work, a side headlock in particular. Styles come off the ropes but walked into an Angle charge. Kurt stomped away, but Styles jumped over Angle. Howevr, Kurt caught another Styles jump and dumped him down. Angle missed a corner charge, hitting the ring post. Styles grounded Angle with a chinlock. Angle battled back, but ran into a back heel kick. However, out of nowhere, Angle hit the Olympic Slam, as the final 10 seconds of the period ticked.
The Second guy for Cage is...Abyss!
Abyss headed out and immediately hit the Shock Treatment on Angle. Abyss pounded away on Angle, with AJ getting a breather. AJ whipped Kurt into the corner as the last 20 seocnds ticked down...
The second babyface out is...RHINO!
Rhino ran right in the ring, and took it to Abyss and AJ, running shoulders into their guts in the corner. He went for a GORE~! but it was stopped, but hhe managed to hit a flying shoulder block. The faces managed to get the upperhand, knocking Abyss down with 30 seconds on the clock. However...
Team Cage's next member was...TOMKO!
Tomko didn't waste any time, knocking his opponents down, as we saw AJ was bleeding. Tomko hit a running slam on Angle. Rhino was also busted open, as Abyss hit a shoulderblock on Angle.
Team Angle guy No. 3? SAMOA JOE!
Joe didn't waste any time either, doling out headbutss and giving everyone stiff shots. Joe came off the ropes with a knee shot. He countered AJ, taking him down. He put AJ on the top Rope and took him off to hit the Muscle Buster. Angle gave Tomko a whole bunch of suplexes.
The fourth man representing Cage was...SCOTT STEINER!
Steiner hit the standing babyfaces with clotheslines before suplexing his opponents. He then hit the Frankensteiner on Rhino!!!!!!!!
The heels took control as the time ticked down, and people paired off...
The 4th TeamAngle member...STING!
Sting then took over control of the match, with Splashes on everyone, before crotching Steiner and bouncing the ropes up and down. Everyone got stacked in the croner of one of those pyramid moves.
The final member of Team Cage...Christian, obviously...
However, Christian didn't immediately take over on everyone. He paired off with Sting and tried chopping away, but Sting wasn't in a selling mood, getting a pair of Stinger splashes instead. Sting put Cage in the Scorpion Deathlock for a few seconds as the time ticked down.
Team Angle's 5th guy..J-E-Double F...
Jeff came in a took it to the heel with dropkicks, before hitting the Stroke on AJ. The roof was lowered. They paired off again. Jeff got the ball bat, and gave it to Sting, then tossing the garbage can to Rhino and the nightstick to Joe. Jeff got himself a trash can lid and took it to Steiner with a whole bunch of shots.
Jeff then used the lead pipe on Abyss, but AJ got the bat and took Jeff down. Angle caught AJ though, ans hit a suplex, but AJ low-blowed to stop any more. AJ climbed up on top of the roof. And Angle followed! Mitchell gave Abyss TWO bags of tacks. Harley Race clocked Mitchell for doing it. Tomko & Joe were up on the top rope. They dropped down, and Rhino hit a MASSIVE GORE~! on Tomko, breaking the cage door, and sending the Problem Solver flying. Things broke down on the outside, as everyone joined them.
Abyss deployed the tacks, but Sting & Jeff fought him off. They then gave Christian a Double chokeslam on the tacks! Abyss hit the Black Hole Slam on Jarrett and Angle & Aj fought. AJ was shoved off!!! Thankfully a whole bunch of guys caught him! HOLY SH!T moment indeed!!!
Back in the ring, Abyss got his second set of tacdk and put them in the hole of the guitar!!!
Sting blocked Abyss's plans, and Jeff got the guitar! Sting turned around to see Jeff, but Jeff motioned to move out of the way, hitting Abyss with the loaded guitar! Jarrett then told Sting to make the winning pin!!! Sting obliged and Sting made the cover for the three count!!!
WINNERS - TEAM ANGLE! Sting is the Number One Contender.
Jarrett & Sting shook hands, with the other member eventually shaking his hand too! Angle & Jarrett leave as the show closes.
