(Stamford, CT) -- World Wrestling Entertainment is promoting that Eddie Guerrero, the former WWE Champion and 2006 Hall of Fame inductee who tragically passed away last year, will be returning to the company thanks to the magic of computer-generated imagery.

Thanks to CGI technology -- which has produced three-dimensional images for use in such films as Jurassic Park, The Terminator trilogy, and 97 percent of the Star Wars prequels -- high-quality graphic images of Eddie will be rendered for WWE's popular "Friday Night SmackDown!" programming.

"Quite frankly, when we saw how popular Eddie had become in the afterlife, we knew that our fans wanted us to incorporate him into current WWE storylines," WWE Chairman Vince McMahon said in a statement.

According to McMahon, himself a hologram sent from the future to destroy his own children, fans will be able to relive Eddie's greatest moments in real-time, not to mention watching him interact with the newest crop of SmackDown! superstars, such as Mark Henry and The Great Khali.

Animators have spent the last four months mimicking Guerrero's movements, facial expressions and even his patented shimmy-shake to make the renderings "as authentic as possible," WWE officials said.

Guerrero, according to entertainment website imdb.com, is reportedly being voiced by actor Cheech Marin, who has portrayed animated characters in films such as "The Lion King", "Oliver & Company" and "Ferngully: The Last Rainforest". WWE officials declined to comment on whom will play Eddie's voice, not wanting to "ruin the surprise."

McMahon said that, if Guerrero's return is seen as a success by the company, there's no reason other "WWE Legends" couldn't be brought back to life for future appearances.

"What die-hard WWE fan wouldn't want to see, say Andre The Giant against The Spirit Squad, or The Junkyard Dog versus Umaga?" McMahon gushed. "We can bring them all back -- Ravishing Rick Rude, Owen Hart, Mr. Perfect, Gorilla Monsoon, The British Bulldog, The Original Ultimate Warrior…"

Sources suggest that WWE is already planning for such an occurrence. The proposed "Cyber Sunday" pay-per-view event in October has been renamed "CGI Sunday", and a promotional poster leaked on the Internet suggests that WWE Champion John Cena will defend his title at the event against Yokozuna.

There are cross-promotional possibilities as well. WWE plans to team up with Disney/Pixar so that Eddie will return to the squared circle driving Lightning McQueen from the current box-office smash "Cars" instead of his traditional low-rider.

"I can't wait for my return to Friday Night SmackDown!, holmes," Eddie said in a pre-recorded message on wwe.com. "And be sure to check out my new merchandise on WWE Shopzone, esse. Viva la rasa!"

When reached for comment by World Wrestling Insanity News, Eddie's widow Vickie Guerrero quietly sobbed into a pillow for several minutes.
